R55 Mileage/amber rear turn signal
So you would need to buy a lefthand rear lens from Britain for a righthand drive car and a righthand rear lens from elsewhere in Europe for a lefthand drive car, in order to get two rear lenses that both have reversing lights!

I just took a 2400 mile road trip from Chicago to Savannah/Tybee Island, GA to Myrtle Beach, SC and back to Chicago, with my 2013 Clubman S.
For the trip overall (all highway & city driving), I averaged 32.06 mpg. On the highway, I averaged 33.5-34.5 mpg, with average speeds of in the 72-74 mph range. I could have easily been 35-36+ mpg if I slowed my speed down a bit, but the speed won out in the speed vs. mileage tradeoff on this road trip.

Mileage varies more than you'd think. I have a new 2013 S Clubman. On a 2,000 mile trip from Wisconsin to Canada and back, almost all highway, I got 35 mpg overall. On 2-mile city trips I've gotten as low as 18 mpg. I think it could range from about 17 to 40 depending on driving habits and conditions. I'm guessing the people who say they get 27 mpg in city driving are at least driving stretches of 1-2 miles at 35-40 mph without stopping.
On one stretch of very smooth highway, going about 60 mph, and very possibly with a tailwind, I was getting well into the 40's.
Our 2011, 6 speed manual, MINI Clubman S, driven 80% on country roads and 20% stop and go has a mean MPG of ~35 over the last 2 years. (See Graph below)
Go here and scroll down to the Mini section. Select the type of Clubman you are looking at and browse real world mileage.
Go for it!
Statisitics... Science... Now you made me want to "up my game"... So, I added 95% confidence limits and n=48 (number of data points in the population set) to the scatter chart. Single point data is OK... but a data time series tells me a lot more! Anyway, I'm weird and find it fun to plot this type of info out on regular basis.

For what it's worth, I'm a scientist, and I have an interest to have all students develop skills in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) curriculum. It makes for a more informed citizenry, and helps to keep our competitive advantage in the world economy.

Which branch of science? This year, I'm teaching stats to fairly high achieving kids that don't want to do precalculus or calculus. Most of them have senioritis. My husband's an electrical engineer by degree, and director of manufacturing for a computer peripherals small company here in San Diego. I've taught every course in math offered in high school, from basic pre-pre-pre-algebra to 2nd year calculus, and physics and a special engineering course (project lead the way) until you had to be an ROP certified teacher to teach it (that's where the money came from). I'm very familiar with STEM, what breaks my heart is that we get high school seniors all sold on engineering or science, then they find out that they need to work at it in college, and switch to a liberal arts field. Even the Gifted and Talented kids!!! Aaaarrgh!
Anyway, I do what I can... 8D

Back to the amber rear turns...
I saw a non S model with them in my town a few weeks ago.
The car looked pretty basic.. Did the early US nonS cars come with them?
Edit, looks like 08, 09, and 10 came with the clear or amber rear turns...

2013 clubman S and my average MPG for the past few thousand has been 32.7 or so. This is with 70/30 highway/city going 70-80 on the highway. It really depends on driving habit and conditions. wind and inclines will decrease the MPG substantially.....
going from red to amber on the 2013 will be a challenge. Easiest would probably be swapping in British tail assemblies. The 2013 tails are LED so changing the color is not as easy as just changing a lightbulb. It involves cracking open the casing and soldering amber LEDs.....not worth it in my opinion.....

Question, does anyone know if a 2010 clear lens housing could fit the 2013 version light filament "red LED ring and center bulb"... My concern is whether or not the light filament in the 2013 would clip into the 2010 clear lens housing. Anyone know?
It would be cool - clear lens - red LED ring as drive lights with a center amber bulb for turn signals...

I saw a Clubman with amber turns yesterday in a parking lot (It was the same car I had seen in town earlier)... After seeing the lenses both up close in person.. I seriously doubt you can just swap the center part.. it looks more like you would be better off swapping the entire tail light assy. The LEDs are cool.. but I sorta like the cleaner style of the early amber lights...
The only problem I think with the full swap out is the 2013 male connector will probably be different then the female connector on the 2010 tail light assy. (there maybe an extra pin and wire for the LED ring)
What I meant in my previous post, is use the 2010 tail light housing and then try clipping in the original lights and circuit board from that came with the 2013.
Goal, would be both the red LED ring and bulb would have to fit within the current clear lens area of the 2010 tail light housing. thoughts - when I measure the cross section its the same. Do you have a photo of the 2012 light board?

If you look up taillights at RealOEM.com (or other parts websites), they seem to indicate that the updated 2011+ taillights on both R55 and R56 no longer use a bulb board. Each bulb has an individual holder that fits directly into the back of the light housing. You can find a part number for the bulb board up to 2010 but not after. In other words, they are incompatible.
