Who races their Clubman?... On a track of course!
I'm thinking about maybe getting into auto cross and was wondering how many clubbies go to the races! Also I've got a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports coming for the car. I'm sure these tires are more than adequate for what I need. I'm hoping a couple times a year to the track doesn't take too much life off the tires. Bone stock car minus a very airodynamic antenna and a really nice iPhone mount.
When you say to the "track" do you mean to the auto-x or to an actual road course?
The life of the tires will vary greatly depending on how hard you drive it and how fast you are. With a camber challenged softly sprung car like the clubbie you could easily go through a set of tires in 3-4 track days (at a road course). You'll wear out the outer edges of the tire well before the rest of the tire. Auto-x is a little easier on the tires but the same thing will happen. If you're going to be doing it a lot it's totally worth a set of IE fixed camber plates or something to get some negative front camber so you don't eat up the outside edges of your tires.
