Pet peeve - 12V outlets

Hey fellow Clubbers!

Just a quick rant about a pet peeve of mine... the 12V outlets, why do they only get power when the car is fully powered up?!?!?!? If i want to run my little air compressor to pump up tires, i need to put the key in the car and light everything up, headlights and all. I don't want to have to start the engine and idle it just to keep the battery charged, waste of fuel and not very enviro friendly. What if i want to power something while i'm camping? what if i want to put 10psi in 4 winter wheels and then kill the battery completely?

come on BMW, smarten up.

Take a look at the size of your battery. I think the manufacturer is trying to keep people from killing the tiny motorcycle-like energy storage device with electronic devices such as compressors, tvs, microwave ovens, and tanning booths.
Well maybe not the tanning booth, thats what the sunroof is for.
