R55 POLL: What's Your Average Clubman Gas Mileage
'09 Clubman
6 speed manual
25,000 miles
70% highway driving
93 octane Quiktrip, sometimes Racetrac
Sport button on half the time
Average 34 mpg
What's weird is that I calculated by hand and it's always 34-35 mpg. It never ever fluctuates even a mile per gallon outside that margin. Weird. And my driving conditions are absolutely never consistent. I'll be stuck in traffic on Monday for half an hour because of construction. A stupid ancient traffic light will hold me up for four minutes on Tuesday. A train pulling a jillion trailers will hold me up for 15 minutes on Wednesday (I think that should be illegal to haul that many, people need to use the road you know...). The list goes on and on. Therefore, I don't understand why the range isn't like 31-37 mpg.

2011 Clubman S 6M MPG (US Calculated)
'11 Clubman S
6 speed manual
12,000 miles
80% highway driving
93 octane Costco, Chevron
Sport button on 2% of the time (I guess I don't seem to think it does much other than the pop and burble)
Average 34.7 mpg

Very pleased with the mileage of the MINI Clubman S. Although, most of the time the MINI drives on country roads (Highway conditions, 50 - 65 miles/hour), I do climb 2000 ft. in approximately 5 miles (very step grade up a residential road). My Trip computer is more conservative by 1 mpg than my hand calculated mileage (spreadsheet and gas receipts), opposite of what most report here.
Very interesting data... Seems that manual transmissions still hold their own, with a lot of noise in the press recently that automatics get better mileage than their manual counter part, if offered... Hard to find a manual these days, interested in buying a sport ute, none to be found on the lot if offered, most brands don't offer the choice, guess I will be keeping my Toyota pick-up and my money. Need something bigger than the Countryman...
Aloha

I have an '08 Clubman S auto and in normal mode I'm usually getting 21.7 or better - but this is all around town driving. I can get it to dip below that in sport mode though.

2011 Automatic
95% city/5% Highway
sport mode off
93 octane
9000 miles
22.5 MPG
some times I will get lower than that, if I hit more of the lights RED. I am a bit disappointed in my mileage , had hoped it would be a bit higher. I took it on a short trip to the Beach last week (95 miles) and averaged 37,. so I am confident it can do it, just guess my city driving is worst that others.

2009 Clubman JWC
6 Speed
29.5K Miles
Rarely use sport - mostly I forget :-)
Premium always
less than 10% highway
30.7 Average MPG based in cars computer - haven't reset since I bought the car a few months ago.
I am happy as I drive the car as I please which is sometimes hard and some times "normal" - depends on my mood at the moment.

So my 37.5 UK MPG equates to 31.23 US MPG

2012 Clubman
6sp Manual
1800 miles (still brand new!)
91 octane
60/40 hwy/city - sport button off most of the time (so far - will change now that everything is broken in!)
On the highway (according to OBC), I average between 38 and 41. City, closer to 33-35. Overall I'm getting around 35mpg mixed.

One thing to think about when "what effects MPG", is the size tires that come on your car. Most non-S Minis have 15 inch whereas most S have 16 or 17 inch wheels. I changed from 15 inch to 17 inch and I lost alot of zip in pickup as well as less MPG. I just did this a couple of weeks ago and have not confirmed the mileage drop, but according to the trip computer, my mileage has dropped. I manually track mileage and should have some MPG comparisons in the next week or so.

2008 Mini Cooper Clubman S British Racing Green
90,500+ miles
Have a 144 mile round trip commute from Shamokin to Harrisburg
Manual
Stock everything(for now)
17" wheels
Average 32.8- 34.6 MPG according to the OBC in Central Pennsylvania
70% Highway/ 30% City
I am not a tame driver in any way, shape, or form.
I have been thinking about upgrading the turbo and adding a cold air intake.

Or - she loves to drive it hard.
I did a round trip in my daughters Clubman S between Boston and Syracuse this week and noted two things. The cumulative milage on the computer showed 29.2 before I reset it during the drive and I am sure that this average represents a years worth of driving - almost exclusively local back roads and short distances - less than 5% Highway driving. Once I reset the computer I averaged 35.2 for the trip but this was 90% Highway and 10% City. I was driving a steady 78 to 80 on the highway.
I think there is only a minimal difference between my JWC Clubman and my daughters Cooper S Clubman. Both are 2009's with similar overall milage .
