Passenger Window

Just wondering if any of you guys have had issues with your passenger window not moving up to the closed position after you closed your door. I had issues with mine a few weeks ago and then it cleared it self up and started to work properly. Now in the past few days, it has started to raise its ugly head again. I know that either the window motor or some other motor drops the window slightly to be able to open the door, then raises it to seal the window shut. Its just aggrevating to reach down everytime to close the window manually. Just wondering if there is a issue for me to take it in to Mini or something that I can do..

Brian

The window dipper issue is a common problem. It is usually fixed by updating the OBC software. Basically the dealership plugs your car into the the MINI mainframe and up loads an updated program. Some JCW owners have noticed a power loss after the dealer reflashes the computer though.

Yes this is a common problem, but there is one thing you can try yourself to correct it. There is a position reset procedure that can sometimes clear this problem. Follow these instruction exactly.

1. Close door
2. Hold passenger windows button down and continue to hold down for 15-20 seconds after window has stopped.
3. Release button.
4. Hold window button in the up position and continue to hold up for 15-20 seconds after window has stopped.
5. Open door and close door to test if position reset has worked.
6. If it did not work try the steps a second time.

If this did not work then you will need to take the car in to the dealer and have the software redone.

I had same issue about a year ago. Happend after holding down the remote's open button for 3 seconds to activate the "all open" feature of windows and sunroof.

I think I used the drivers side door handle key access to bring it back to norm by turning and holding the key in the lock position for few seconds to lock and secure all doors / windows / roof.

It was like there was some sort of hic-up in the system.

Never a problem since.....
