R55 Thule roof rack installed
Thule Rack and 2011 Clubman-still an issue
I have a 2011 Clubman S and purchased a the Thule 1507 fit kit and still, after reading all of the posts, do not understand the correct way to install these clips. I see where the OEM rack is supposed to install. Are the Thule clips supposed to fit in these slots? Nobody seems to know this answer, including Mini Dealers, and Thule Dealers. I know this thread has been discussed over and over, but I am still not finding a definitive answer and am super frustrated with this rack. Please help

The clips go OVER the plastic gutter and hook onto the bottom. The rubber feet sit on the crown of the roof on each side.
Assemble the feet and bar on the ground using the measurements provided in the instructions. Leave the foot/bar clamp loose for now. Start with the clips as loose as possible and position the rubber feet. Pull the clip over the gutter on one side and then on the opposite side. Then gently torque the clips keeping the feet centered. Now you can clamp the foot/bar assembly. Perform a final gentle torgue of the feet and you are done.
Once you get the hang of it, it only takes 5-10 minutes. Hope this helps.

Be careful not to over tighten the clip on this side.
atlas8000, this is exactly how i fit mine to my car, and i've 0 issues carrying up to 3 MTB's... doing about 10,000 miles fitted like that... the rubber does seem to distort at 1st but once the roof bars come off they pop back to their original shape with no fuss...

i've got no close ups of the fett fitting, sorry!
all that said, i'm tempted to do this OEM roof rails because i think they're a much neater solution....

Sorry to revive an old thread but why has no aftermarket company come up with a fit kit that mounts in the factory mounting slots vs. over the rubber rain gutter trim? It would look way better and would be more secure. Is there something I'm missing here?
mounting without pulling weather stripping off driver side window
I noticed everyone mentioning how their Thule 1507 fit kits were pulling the weather stripping off the driver side window and one person even put electric tap between the fit kit and the window. I thought it was very simple I just put a very small incision in the weather stripping directly adjacent to the rubber gutter and it looks great. Here are pictures of my Thule rack including were the fit kit meets the rear driver side window.
