Where's my Clubman with ALL4???

So I live in LA... well Santa Monica, and I love my Clubman. I guess I don't really need ALL4, but I also love snowboarding and skiing with my wife... We try to make as many trips to the mountains in the winter as possible and i hate driving the rental trucks...gross...

I've been following all the news on the Countryman... and have been trying to like it, but with all the most recent size comparison shots (MotoringFile.com) i just keep coming back to the clubman design.

I leased my Clubman and it just so happens that my lease is up May of next year... conveniently when the Countryman should be showing up. I guess maybe once the configurator is updated and I can build one the way i think it should look I might change my mind, but right now all I really want is an...

ALL4 Clubman... yeah that sounds about right...

yeah i don't understand why MINI thinks unveiling new cars with people dancing is entertaining to us???

anybody know when the US site might get updated with the Countryman to configure?

I know pre-Clubman release it was up for some time before it actually came out. Not exactly sure how long beforehand it was...

The US configurator probably won't be updated until late Fall sometime as the Countryman won't hit our shores until Q1 2011.

Who was the marketing genius who said" Let's have some casually dressed(?) people dancing IN FRONT OF OUR NEW MODEL so no one can see THE CAR and has to listen to some hookie music while they dance around?!

Anybody care wager when or if, ALL4 will trickle down or too the other models... Namely the clubman?

Dez, I don't think it will happen.. On Motoring file they did an interview w/ MINI person(Vinnie???) sounded like Clubman has a relatively short life span @ this point(few more years.) Hope I am wrong though!!

I think it would take significant re-engineering of the Clubman to make room for the transfer case, rear drive shaft, and differential. I think you would end up with something... well... like the Countryman....

She has great legs. I just wish she would use them to get the hell out of the way so I could see the cars. Never thought I would say that.

But seriously, as a break dancer my 38 year old white chubby self, I appreciate the moves of those hard working dancers.

No but really this time, I hate to admit that the Countryman is growing on me. Why in the world it lacks seating for three in the back in the US (a country know for biggie fries and massive SUV's piled high with kids and a soccer Mom) is a mystery. Seating for five (well maybe 4.5) adds many possible buyers and doesn't take away any one market segment.

They did something similar at the Frankfurt auto show. I don't like the costumes but the music is okay since I sometimes listen to techno when I'm really bored.

I can appreciate the dancing and all...but couldn't they do it NEXT to the cars instead of right in front of them?

I actually liked the mega baseball cap...the cowboy hat was cheesy though.

And I agree with the OP. I'm not the biggest fan of the Countryman...I'd be way more in favor of an AWD hardtop or Clubbie.
