Chips in passenger side window - Replace?

I was driving next to some town property on Sunday and a town employee had one of those huge lawnmowers going. It threw a rock which hit my passenger side window. Sounded like I'd been hit by a bullet. I could see that the glass was damaged, so I turned around and parked next to the lawn mower operator. We took a look at it - there are two "divits" out of the glass. One is about half and inch diameter and the other is about a quarter of an inch. They are both at eye level and quite noticeable.

The town is willing to cover the cost - side glass can't be repaired, so it has to be replaced. The cost will be about $260. There is a good local shop that can do the work.

Am I being too picky if I make them replace it?

No, you are not being picky. Make them pay for replacing the window.

NO WAY are you too picky! Have them replace it.

What if they were spraypainting their building and your car was parked there, yet they did not notify you of the painting and your car was covered in overspray? Would you get them to fix it....I would!

Look it was an accident but its YOUR car...replace the window and have them pay for it!

No way are you bieng too picky i would do the same. I had this happen to a previous car driving by a local church where someone was mowing and threw rocks all over my car leaving several dents on my passenger door. I made them pay fully. They were bieng irresponsible and didn't care about other peoples property.

You ARE being to picky

Opps did i say that. Make them cover the cost of the repalcement and time you lose from your job for taking it to the dealer.

As for a local place to have it repaired at, I would not turst any of them to do it. Front windows are one thing but the side windows on these cars have to be "Exaclty" in the right place or they will leak. The dealers have the best knowledge of adjusting them to keep them form leaking.

If it is the windows in the front passenger door these are very hard to repalce, they basically have to take the whole door apart to do it. I.E. inner trip panel, second inner trip panel, inner steel panel and ohter gaskets.

If it is the Passenger Club Door, it is easeir but the main studs or adjustments can be broken easily.

Good Luck and yes MAKE THEM PAY

Thanks you guys. I have an appointment to take it to the dealer next week. Even though my local shop is good, I agree that it's best to have the dealer do it.
