R55 '08 silver hood stripes
The material is warrantied for 5 or 10 years. So if it was put on by the dealer the there should be a dealer warranty. If they were put on by someone else then they should be warranting it. If you purchased them and installed them yourself then the manufacturer should be warranting it.
When I was picking my 09 up at the dealer, they mentioned that they had to replace several stripes that were damaged by concentrated washer fluid. Mine were good, so I didn't pay much attention to how you would know what concentration to run. I'm sure bird droppings could also eat the plastic if left on for a while. I have a Jeep that has cracks in the clear coat from seagull poop.
silver is the worst color to get in vinyl. it fades the quickest, and is a huge undertaking when removing it! I had close to 4 hrs. removing mine from my car. and they were only a few years old!
It has something to do with the chemical makeup to get the silver color and metal flake. And it shows water spots a lot easier as it gets older and starts to fade.
