One of the decisions of my lifetime

Hi all,

I went to the dealer again today, and tested drove one.... I gotta say it feels good. Although the transmission felt not so smooth.. Maybe it's coz the car is still cold... Dunno . But overall experience felt good...

Then I made the one of the decision of my life... I placed the order for Clubman s for my wife and myself. Can't wait to clean up the garage and park my own in it!!

Transmission is cold

The transmission will feel a bit notchy when it's cold out because the fluid is thick when it's cold. Once you get it warmed up it will shift very nicely. It has a nice positive feel to it and you won't be disappointed. Congrats on the order.

And what color, etc., did you decide upon, if I may ask?

I got a PW Clubman S. I was thinking about Chill Red, but then again the insurance is higher... This PW clubman is in the lot. The dealer was able to give me $500 off MSRP. So I took the deal

Can this be right?
Insurance is more expensive because of color?

Good for you with your color and your deal. Never heard of insurance being dependent upon the car's color before. Perhaps they believe red car drivers are too wild.

Congrats on the Club S, you are going to love it. About cleaning the garage. Don't do too much. these cars require much less space! Dan

Congrats on the order. I picked up my S Clubman last July. People ask me if I still like the car. I always answer without hesitation that I love it. I just regret that I only live a mile from work. I have to plan ahead to get it out on the road. You and your wife will really enjoy this car.

Red paint is the most expensive color to repaint

The company I've worked for nearly 22 years underwrites on behalf of about 15 auto insurers. Not one has any surcharge for color.

IMO it's an urban myth, probably brought on by the perception that a red car is easier for police to see.

Welcome to the family, SHADYYU! Like the rest of us 'insaneos', you will love your Clubman . You may be pleasantly surprised when you find out that the insurance industry lists the Clubman as a "wagon" . Because of that, you should get a better price.

Congratulations on the Clubman. I've had mine one year on the 25th. Otto continues to be my favorite car ever. He goes for his first oil change Friday. It will be so great to be on the road with him for a few hours as he only gets to go to the post office a few times a week. Only 3,000 miles on him, but that is already half of what my 2002 BMW has so obviously he gets to go out more.

Waiting is well worth it. I waited 25 months for him to be available. Now I'm waiting to be able to get the new Cabrio too. Gotta have more MINIs!
