Automatic Sport-button question

Does anyone else with an Automatic Cooper Clubman (sport mode engaged) notice the engine downshifting rather harshly when braking? I'm not talking about extreme braking, just typical driving... residential, 55mph backroads, etc. As this is my first Auto MINI, I'm not sure what to expect. I can see it downshifting to use the engine to break, but it just seems to give a bit of a jolt when doing this... not very smooth at all. Any advice on this?

Yup, mine does it. I think it's just the nature of the beast. Downshifting at higher revs will cause a joltier downshift, I guess.

Not a Clubbie, but mine does the same. I like it!

My auto r56 justacooper also dose that, but i dont have a problem with it it kinda FUN .... hahaha...the other day my dad was sitting next to me while i was driving he was on the phone so i secretly pusher the sport button (he also drives it on sport 24/7) and when we were slowing he noticed from the downshifts that it was on so he tries pushing the *** to the right to turn it off but nuthing happens because its on with the button so i started laughing then got a lecture on driving slower!

Thanks everyone! Like I said, not used to an automatic, so I wanted to check. Not so much a problem as I wanted to be sure it was the norm.

Mine downshifts pretty smooth when in D-Sport mode, but then the JCW tune kit remapped all up-down shift points when in full auto. However, I rarely use that and employ the paddles (or stick) for all my shifts.

Thanks everyone!

Got a loaner MCS auto today... and while not as pronounced of a 'jolt' it is still there, so I guess I was just being paranoid!
