Coolant recommendation

So I am noticing that my coolant level is a bit low since I run my heater quite a lot lately.

Anybody can reccomend anything in particular to buy? Not partial to the OEM one from MINI so any good auto store types would be fine.

Did you find something that will work or did you end up using mini's?

My MA told me not use anything but blue coolant/anti-freeze. I'm thinking er, why? I believe Peak has some stuff that works with any color, although I'm wondering if it'll void warranty if anything fails. Either way I have an appointment on Monday so I'll get them to fill him up when I go in.

Runing your heater should not affect your coolant level. It is normal to lose small amounts to evaporation over time. If it's just a little low simply add distilled water, about 75 cents a gallon at Walmart. The difference between the "lower" and "upper" level indicators in the coolant reservoir is about 8 ounces.
If your coolant level is very low, you have a mechanical problem that needs to be looked at by your dealer.

bought some OEM Mini coolant from the dealer ... figured if the Zerex is 14 bucks at Autozone the original at 20 bucks is not a bad deal ... topped it off and added some distilled water and good to go.
that OEM Mini cooland is some really thick stuff, almost gel like.

Why didn't you just let the dealer top it off for you? Isn't a low coolant issue covered under warranty? Also, how much did you add?

i guess they would have topped it off if I asked, but I was in a hurry at not at my usual dealer, and like to have a bottle of coolant around if I need it in an emergency anyway.
wasn't that much that I needed to fill ... seems to hold even now for the last few days.
