2 separate instances, after washing the car, i was closing the boot doors and heard a loud crack or snap of some sort, and then found a small piece of black plastic laying on the ground. almost looked like a tab, but i'll be damned if i can figure out where it came from. happened once on both doors, but i can't see anything that looks cracked or broken. only odd thing i notice is neither tail light is fixed to the frame, both flip up slightly from the bottom, but they have been like that from day 1.

looked all over, up and down, side to side, in every nook and cranny, i can't see any damage, so i prolly shouldn't be so up tight about it, but something obviously didn't line up when shutting the doors, so it's bound to happen again. any bright idears out there?

 

Post pictures of the broken pieces, maybe someone else will recognize what they are....

 

attaching 3 pix of the 2nd casualty piece...not sure what i did with the first one, but it looked exactly the same. placed piece on top of penny for scale reference and image contrast.

 

the plastic piece looks the most like the tabs on the bottom rim of the tail lights...each one of my tail lights have two plastic tabs on the bottom...if they're supposed to have three, then mystery solved. but there's no evidence any tabs broke off from the tail lights that i can see or feel.

 

Looking at our clubman briefly, I only see two tabs on each tail light. Maybe it is part of the tabs but not the whole thing.
