Sunroof Inauguration

So today, the girl who only got a sunroof cause it was only an extra $500 and figured it would help when it came time for resale, OPENED UP THE SUNROOF AND DROVE THE WHOLE WAY HOME! It was AWESOME! And I swear folks will think I'm crazy, but it seemed much less disruptive than sunroofs in other cars.

yep i love sunroofs. I had one in my subaru liberty and Rav4 and there was no way i was getting the mini without it. Especially as the mini roofs are HUGE and way cool. everyone who looks at my car comments on the dual roofs, the clubdoor and the barn doors. And whilst every Mini option/accessory is way over priced, i actually thought the sunroof was reasonable. Here it was AU$1800 which isn't bad for the size of the roof and that the back one also hitches up. The roof I had fitted to my subaru was AU$2300 and was a standard tiny roof. I was so ripped off !

I did have mine tinted by BMW at the same time they tinted the windows as the sun down here can be scorching when it wants to be.

the wind deflector that pops up when you open the roof helps an enormous amount. it really stops that "thump thump" sound that i've had in both previous sunroof equipped cars. Only prob is it catches a crapload of bugs!! still trying to work out the best way of cleaning it!!

I've had several cars with sunroofs over the years. Our F150 had a great one. One in my old Ford van was crap, but it was aftermarket. My Z28 has T Tops as did my old 88 GTA Trans Am. My Jeep on the other hand has a large sun roof. It's the entire top! My MCS is awesome, so naturally, when it came time to order the Clubbie the sun roof was non negotiable!

Congrats on the sun roof opening!

I'm a sun worshipper...plus there's so much to look at in a big city, or near mountains, and the extra breeze feels great through my hair. Sunroof=liberation

Sunroof!

It was beautiful this morning cruising into work at 5:00, 65 degrees and the sunroof wide open.

I've been debating whether to get the sunroof tinted or go with a roof graphic, so I took a fellow NAMers suggestion and picked up some of the reflective/aluminum insulation from Lowes for homemade sun screens (vital necessity when taking road trips in the SC summer sun).

I was wondering if it was the wind deflector that was making the difference; I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the bugs!

I'll probably continue using it for a while this Fall. Still won't use it much in the summers I'm sure...it's just too blasted hot (and our traffic patterns aren't known for maintaining any kind of decent speed).
