New generic category for Clubman, Scion, etc.?
When looking around, I noticed that the Honda Scion, Chrysler PT Cruiser and Cooper Clubman all seem to fit what one might call a "specialty niche market." They aren't SUVs but they aren't cars in the sense that a (for example) Honda Accord is. They seem to just stand by themselves. Should we classify them by themselves? I'd prefer to call them FUVs (FUN Utility Vehicles)!
That way, the three of us (Scion, PT Cruiser, Clubman) have a category to call our own in the same way the owner of a ZR-1 can say that his/her car is not sports car but a supercar.

Scion (xA, xB, xD) is not Honda's. Honda makes the Fit that is sort of similar category with lot of space and small from outside. Scions are Toyota's.

Pardon me if this sounds snobby, but I prefer not to be in the same category as a PT Cruiser.

They are "station wagons". Small station wagons.
Of course, the Clubman is actually a sports car that also happens to be a small station wagon.

Tim I gotta agree with ya... I'd rather consider the A3 or C30 in a similar category.

Agreed. I wouldn't drive a PT Cruiser for free.

Why attempt to put it in a box? It is what it is.

Yea...don't want to be associated with that tired old gas hog of a platform.
The xD, Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, and MINI Cooper all fall under subcompact category.
I'd go with sport subcompact.

And that is an incredibly useful fun to drive box?
They're all just wagons or incredibly trendy wagons.
