So I noticed in the short 2 weeks or so that I've owned my Clubman, that there are certain types of non-Mini drivers who are most apt to check out my Clubman while we're passing. For instance, I can almost assume that most BMW 3 series drivers will give my Clubman a glance as we pass. What type of drivers are most apt to notice your Clubman?

No common thread among them. It is just common to find at least one person looking at my car when I approach it in a parking lot. I get a lot of comments that start with "I've never seen one like this..."
I don't watch other drivers except for the Mini drivers -- to see if they return my wave (most don't).

Wow... you're area must be saturated with MINIs. I'm lucky if I see two a week (other than the two that are in my driveway)

I had a family in a subaru outback looking at my car when we were stopped at a light...I have a 7 year old and it appeared they had a child of similar age...so they were looking at it... I got one wave yesterday!!

I've had all kinds of folks, from truck drivers, to families with small kids in a Volvo wagon, to rednecks in a beat up Chevy Nova.

Hot Chocolate is the best color to get heads turning and walkers/runners stopped to look.

Suburban drivers are the "checkers out" that I watch.
Make it a point to park next to one at the mall or grocery store.
Since the Clubman looks like a baby Suburban/Yukon, the children are the ones who ooh and aah over the Clubman.

My wife's HC Clubman (Hottie Chocolate) has people asking about her car all the time. From classic car owners to BMW SUV owners to men who drive basic trucks. One guy said it reminded him of his old Chevy Nomad that he had in high school. The other day when we went to get the windows tinted, the guys that work in the shop surrounded it immediately and wanted to know everything about it. They loved the barn doors. I just found out that a local ice cream store is using a HC Clubman with their logo on it and specially designed freezer in the back for ice cream. Can not wait to see it cruising around.

Thats funny, I seem to notice more BMW drivers checking out my Clubman also. Maybe since some will see MINI's at their dealership it boosts their interest.
I never really cared for BMWs myself prior to owning a MINI. Now that I've been to the dealership I find at least enough interest to occassionaly glance at the BMWs. Now the question is am I just noticing more BMWs and thats why I see more checking out the Clubman, or is there really a higher interest among the Beamer crowd?
And who noticed who first? I could find out they are just looking because they saw me look.

Can't wait to get my Clubman S so I can see (and report) who's looking at it. I always stare, even before I decided to buy one.

Cops - bad...everyone else - good.
I bet folks are checking it out, they're super interesting and cool...

I can tell you that I am always looking out for a Clubman. and have been lucky enough to spot a couple in parking lots (which I ran over to peek at them) and one on the road.
I have Mini envy though. so? I drive a BIG ole' SUV. (evil, I know)
oh, and I wave to everyone, even Non Mini drivers. you should see some of the looks I get.
never had a Mini driver wave back, yet. I hope that changes when I get mine.

the JCW loaded Clubman I saw last Tuesday was so cherry, I almost went into the pizza shop it was parked in front of to ask for the owner's permission to take a picture. I chickened out. Originally Posted by Parkerton

it still had the paper tags on it. and the owner had already added graphics to the windows.
but I promise to keep my little digital with me, so I can snap shots of any I see in the future for you all

LOL. I am driving a Suburban (loaner from an uncle) while I am waiting for my clubman to arrive. The poor transmission in my accord is going to die anyday.Originally Posted by DragonWagon

Just published article from the other side of the pond ... about pretty much the same thing we are discussing here.

I get all sorts of people checking it out.
There was a guy in one of those Mercede SUVs that just couldn't take his eyes off of CamRun.
I've noticed tons of eyes looking at my MINI, which is sort of odd, since the area is a fairly MINI heavy location. There isn't a day that goes by where I see less than 4 or 5 MINI Cooper models. Sometimes I see quite a few more and not all of them are the same cars.
