Tinted Windows on a HC Clubman

I'd seen some sweet Clubmen (Clubmans?) with tinted windows, so I headed out today to get it done. Let me know what you think!

I messed with the perspective on this image:

Well, nutz. I can't figure out how to attach the files that I already have on another thread. The board won't let me attach them again. The pics are in my gallery. If somebody will let me know how to re-thumbnail them here, I'll do it. Here's a "straight" pic.

Looks good! I may have gone darker on the rear but that's just me. All that matters is if you like it...

for me that's a bit too dark ... i actually like the 35% legal tint that we can use in NY. its dark "enough" to have a tinted look and light enough that the interior does not feel too dark. Not to mention from a safety perspective where I can still make eye contact with other drivers ... I am still visible.

although I know in some warmer states dark tint is a must ... just not my thing.

Hoonu, what percentage tint did you go with? cost? I have been quoted $300 for 35% and want to know if this is high, low or right on... What is everyone else paying?

Looks good ..I also tinted my clubby at 35%..would have preferred to go a touch darker..but was afraid since the windows are smaller...

$300 is a quote from a dealership, I have a local shop who will do it for $250...PS.. unless the dealership has a body shop build in, they are going to farm out the job and charge you more....shop smart.

Thanks for the kind words!

The fronts are at 32%, which is the darkest allowed here. The rear side windows are a little darker than that, which is allowed for the rear windows. The splitdoor windows are more like 40-45%; I didn't want those to be too dark and interfere with vision or the activation of the auto dimming mirror. I'll check in once I drive it at night.

As far as cost, I had it done by a local guy who'd done my VW a few years ago. $145. Sounds like that was a pretty good deal.

Our local tint shop just did my Cooper S for $157.00 including tax. They quoted the same for my wife's HC Clubman. I have 40 door windows and 80 rear windows.

I shopped around for someone to do the windows on COCO PUFF but most were in the 225-300 range for a quality job.
SO
I ordered mine precut and did them myself. I had done a few before and I have to say this was by far the easiest one yet.
AND
I got to go with a high quality BRONZE tint that none of the shops wanted to do.
approx 35% all around
99% UV blockage
60% heat blockage
only 5% reflectivity
Lifetime warranty
$100

Oh, yeah, it's pretty bodacious. Now that it may be cooling off a bit, I can get back out there on it. Here's a thumb:

Sorry folks. You know how motorcycle hoodlums are. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming...

Hoonu,
Nice job. I can't wait to get my HC/HC and do the roof, sides and rear doors. Just not sure how dark I want it. Plus here is DC metro area everything is more expensive.

Shop S-Mart!

Sorry - couldn't resist.

Definitely check around locally. I know there are several good tint shops where I live that do good work for a reasonable price.

One question, how much does it usually cost to get just the sunroof tinted so it's almost impossible to see through? What % would that be? 50%?

n2hcky,

Who did you order your DIY precut film from and were you happy with the product?

TIA!
