R55 Laser Blue Clubman Owner's Club
new member!!!!
hi! we just got our 2009 mini cooper clubman s on thursday . this is our second mini-it was hard letting the other go... but we tricked this one out pretty well
the inside is just piano black- just black everywhere- we would have liked the chrome around the dials, but we bought this "off the rack" and made some additions thru the dealer...transferred our black rubber mats over ...lol
lovin it! parked next to a lightening blue cooper and a horizon blue yesterday at a mall...came back to the car , the lil lightening blue was gone but a shiney red one had parked next to me! it was a mini get together!

I fell in love with my laser blue Clubman S at first sight
A few minutes later, I drove her (Lyric) off the showroom floor. I love everything about the car; don't miss my BMW at all. This car's got the same soul.
I have two nits and I'm certain that they will both get fixed soon. One is that the bluetooth doesn't work (nobody can hear) and the other is that the iPhone interface doesn't with a 3Gs.
My lone disappointment is that I can't add Cooper works to the car, because it doesn't have a limited slip differential. Yeah, I should have asked, but like I said, I was in love.

Updated Mini
Hi Everyone,
I joined the Laser Blue Clubman team last week. Like MiniMom5, I also had to let my previous Mini go... 2002 Black/White Mini Cooper.
One test drive in the S and I knew it was time to move on from my original Mini. I took advantage of the current incentives and found an 09 in stock at my local dealer...
Laser Blue/Black Mini S Clubman
Premium Package
Piano Black Interior
Auto Wipers/Headlights
Bluetooth/USB
Pictures coming soon!!

One week and 1200 miles
Hi all, just thought I would express my enthusiasm about joining this elite group! A week and a day ago I traded in my beloved 2001 Dodge RAM 2500 "Intense Blue" truck to acquire this wonderful little friend and though my truck holds a special place in my heart I can't stop smiling!
It's been raining here in the NW since I picked him up, but here is a picture anyway.

Hi Spoon!
Well, at least you chose the right color - I have NO idea why anyone would get any color other than Laser Blue, it is SOOOOO gorgeous!!
My car is setup pretty much the same as yours except I have the standard "checkered flag" trim pieces. I *really* like the look of the piano black, the only downside I hear about it is that it shows fingerprints and such quite readily. Just keep a can of Plexus and a polish cloth stashed behind the front seat and you're good to go.
As for choosing the S over the standard model, well that one is a no-brainer. You get a MUCH more powerful engine, the cool hood scoop, and you only give up 2 mpg. And all of that costs you only $3k more, a true value in today's market.
My car also has the Auto. Tranny (fantastic automatic, and I've been driving sticks for 38 years), Premium Pkg., USB/Bluetooth (LOVE IT!!), black interior and roof. I absolutely love my car and receive compliments on it every week from other motorists and even pedestrians. I handles like nothing else, has plenty of get up and go (although I wouldn't mind having an extra 25 or so hp) and is quite practical for me.
One 3rd party accessory that you should seriously consider (besides the requisite GPS and Escort radar detector) is a ScanGuage II. This is a little black box that plugs into the OBD II connector and provides you with a TON of information about the motor and what is going on second to second. I have mine programmed to display Manifold Air Pressure (think of it as a jack-legged turbo boost gauge), Air Intake Temp., Battery Voltage, and Water Temp. It can also read and display any of the fault codes that the OBD II system provides - quite handy when that "Check Engine" light comes on.
I also keep the back seats permanently folded down, and have a laser blue moving blanket that covers the rear cargo area. This is so my pitbull, Maxi, can hop in his Mini and have something to hold onto while I put the car thru its paces. And, after all, shouldn't EVERY Mini have a Maxi he can call his own? And vice versa...<g>
Best Wishes,

Photo of new Mini
rlw,
Thanks for the comments. I actually have Manual Transmission... I meant I have auto-headlights and auto-wipers in my previous post.
Here's the first photo of the new Mini!! I utilize my back seats for our newborn's car seat, that was the primary reason for upgrading from our Cooper Hatchback to our Clubman! Tons more space

Here's my first Clubman (in Laser Blue, no less) and second Mini...

And as was the case with my original Mini, a blue S is essential.

A rather substantial change from my R53 JCW, but appreciably more practical with winter approaching. Still not too sure I made the right decision regarding the stripes.
Hmmm, just spotted the preview and see I'll have to update my signature.

Here is my LB CLubbie with the nice 5-spokers. Notice how well the calipers match the body color, pretty good for $20 and 1 hour of my time:

Wish it had LSD (car was on lot and no longer offered for custom order) and I wouldn't mind the Xeons.... but other than that...THIS CAR ROCKS!

Move Over Tomato, Fluffy's Got a New Friend
Oh boy; the stable is expanding...
Some of you had figured out that with Erik's selling of parts off his Jetta, you think something was up his sleeve. And you were right; however, what you probably didn't know too much is what was coming or when it would arrive. So, a little story; it begins with a trip to L.A. when Smalls and I took to see long-lost college friends who relocated due to career choices. We caught up with them in March, got our spring tan on, and goofed off for a good week. Meanwhile, while searching for a future vehicle, I stumbled upon a 2009 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Clubman that had barely any run time northwest of L.A. With twisting my wife's arm too hard, I suggested we should just take a quick peek. The peek was all that was needed; and Smalls was now chomping at the bit to see what could be done to bring it home. Seller and I agreed on a price, shook hands and we flew home to Denver to work out the details.
Now, fast forward to just this past Monday, May 3rd; after working out all the payment details, we flew back out to L.A. Yes, that's us flying over Colorado @ 40,000 feet... @ 7:00am in the morning.

Drive to warehouse where the Clubman has been stored, and hasn't been driven much since... some 54xx miles. Quick history; owner ordered / purchased in April 2009, recieved August 2009, drove it till November 2009, and it's been under a cover in a climate control facility.

Since the roads are still a heaping mess in Colorado's high country, we had it loaded and enclosed shipped back to Colorado.
We met up with our driver on Monday in the nick of time to have the Clubman loaded, inspected and shipped out.

The rig hauling it was bringing 9 other 2010 Mini's from Oxnard's pier to Salt Lake and Denver locations.

Fly home on the same Monday; a very long 21 hours of being awake to make the flight out, make payment, make shipping, see our friends again, and fly home. Which brings us to Thursday's morning drop-off at Ralph Schomp BMW in Littleton.
Picked up the car, drove it home... and now the Jetta is jealous.
Some stats:
2009 JCW Clubman
1.6-liter turbocharged + intercooled inline-4
6-speed manual Getrag transmission
Laser Blue Metallic (all panel matching) with Black Sport Stripes
Punch Black heated leather seats
almost every available option imaginable, including park-radar, Nav, the "works" (I'm still gathering intel on it...)

Buying a car out of state and not driving it back is one hell of an experience...
Smalls and I aren't doing this again anytime soon... hopefully!
Yes, offical photos (when the weather is clear and the car not stage-frighten) will come.
And yes, a parts list has already started. Heh!

Awesome. Great to see all the fotografs. It must have been really exciting. I've a 2009 JCW too, and i guess the one thing i am missing is the parking sensors. Please do post some interior pictures.
CONGRATULATIONS and happy motoring.

I just joined this club with the purchase of my first (and long-awaited) Mini, Jemma, an '08 Clubman S. I totally love the color!! She looks a lot like 2593's car above, but has the sporty seats and such. When I figure out how the heck to load a picture, I will do so!
