Anyone get $$$ off MSRP?
Just curious if anyone has been able to knock anything off or get some extras thrown in? Also If you got yours near central PA please let me know since those are the dealerships I have been in contact with. Just looking for the best deal out there! Thanks

Hi,
I asked just about the same question a few weeks ago. See https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=137733
The consensus: Some get nothing, but the vast majority of buyers get mats thrown in, perhaps some other stuff too.
I was able to get some $ off MSRP, and mats too. I think I just got lucky though, and I had to go out of town to get it.
Good luck,
Will

Anyone checking Edmunds or cars.com?
Invoice versus MSRP is around $2000+ And your accessories are between $50 and $100 up to $250 difference in price from MSRP to the invoice. There is your leverage.
Eveyone is happy about the mats for free....they are $70...woohoo....hopefully no install cost huh? guess what...they paid around $25 to have the little mini stuff put on the mats...
The difference between building one on the website and one through Edmunds will save me around 2k off MSRP. Figure it will come to 30,000ish if you go the S model and around 28-29k non-s model and then add that 2k back on with tax and licensing. Saves me $50 a month on a payment and allows me to move into a different loan term...with gas prices that just went back into the tank...(s versus non-s is around $2-3 a fill up...nominial price) and still paying less in the long run.
Every time I've purchased a vehicle I've asked the salesperson about MSRP and Invoice, then showed them the prices and said we'll do 5% over Invoice if it's on the lot, gives them cash in their pocket and the dealership makes their markup as well....don't think invoice is what they are paying either.
Since this is a special build..you should be in control of your build...they need to show you they are serious about helping you with your purchase. Don't get me wrong, you don't need to break their back about it, but push them a little, you can't make it happen if you don't ask. Maybe it is just the salesperson you are working with as well....might try another? Or send what you "expect" to happen to the internet person handling the intake at the dealership and see what they will do for you. Sometimes a policy will prevent them from making it happen...ask for it in writing..."guidelines" aren't written, policy is written.
Your real negotiations should be with accessories and install costs....see if the dealership will farm out the accessories to a shop for install or will it happen at the dealership. If they will talk about pricing on the installs, it's just as easy for you to take your car to that shop and pay for install as it is to have the dealership do it, might even save you considerable amounts especially on items such as the stripes and the 3m to shop around and see who can get everything installed for you all at once (tint, 3m, stripes).
Dealership was charging $300 for my old car...saved $50 at another shop and they warrantied it for life. Different shop did my 3m and added extras I didn't have to pay for...still paid only $400 for the front end, mirrors, headlights, fog lamps, rocker panels, door handles and hatch handle (mazda3 HB). I know I would have been raped at the dealership for that and it still would have been driven to another shop. Do you really want others driving your car around?
So far with my two vehicles I've paid around the smart buy price, but never MSRP, it's just annoying to me that I would have to pay the full price for the car when they are already marking it up for the area I live in ($4000 in my wife's CR-V price, didn't pay that and also took off another 2k) and my first Mazda back in 03, ($4000 for a 1984 trade in and car at invoice and they still had to go to another state to get it and bring it back).
Be smart...build it a few ways. You save around $500 by dropping some items from the packages and just getting what you want...or not getting the package at all and looking to aftermarket items.
I've been planning my clubbie purchase for over 6 months so far...it shouldn't be a snap decision to drop your cash to hold a spot on a car that may take in my case 5-6 months before I get a build date, by that time, my trade has more miles and less worth. Let them work numbers....of course don't purchase on a monthly payment....get your 20% down payment and work with your bank...but that's another story.
good luck

Receiving anything off MSRP is reason to celebrate.
Supply and Demand are forcing the high prices in larger urban settings.
Being willing to travel to pick up your new Clubman may be the only way to receive any discount.
With gas prices going up, up, up, the prices will probably stay at MSRP. Curse any dealer who does that Value Added garbage.
