R55 Anyone pay under MSRP? Or get freebies?
I guess I'm considered "out of town". I'm in Fremont about 10 miles from the dealer.
Hi JimJ-
We haven't settled on a price. All we did was pay a $1000 deposit at the time of order and sign a form that said the price may change. I would take that as meaning either up or down. We have been doing research and are curious to see how they want to deal. We are supposed to go in on Wednesday night for pick up.
I'd like MSRP with no BS mark ups or market adjustments. If they would like all "5"s on their survey, then tossing in a set of mats and a spare tire(as EVERY car should have) could clinch it. We just want MSRP without all the added profits that get tacked on. Some $50(their cost) mats IS NOT going to affect their profit margin all that much, but could make the difference between an OK sale or a happy customer.
BTW: does anybody know what invoice is on a Clubman S?

Ordered a jutsa MC from East Bay Mini on May 7th, and they gave me MSRP, but did tell me orders starting May were going to be 2k above sticker - but they could squeeze me in. How nice
Wouldn't really deal with me on very much at all. Even tried to pit the Concord dealership against them and they both seemed to care less. I'm hoping to get better service when the car arrives, 'cause so far it's been really cut and dry.
Obviously, they are not nearly as excited as I am about my mini.

Edmunds.com says the Clubman S National Base Price: msrp $23450.00
and invoice price $21105.00.
I think it all comes down to supply and demand of the Clubman in the San Francisco Bay area with a little greed in the mix.

You know, so far we have not really been that impressed with the customer service/buying experience.
WE designed the car on line. The MA did not discuss any other options with us. Who knows, we may have gone for something more. At least he may have picked up that we didn't include the rear fog light in our final order, and it had been in all the previous ones. At the most, the MA spent a half hour to an hour taking our deposit check and filling out credit application forms even after we told him we were paying cash.
We came back to the dealership the next week to add on the rear fog light that we forgot and were told "too bad" it's already in production. Couldn't even talk with our MA, he was busy. We did get the VIN # from the sales manager so we could at least check out the owners lounge site.
Our car goes into production, gets shipped, arrives at the VDC, gets delivered to the dealer. You'd think that maybe just once he could call or email and say "Hey, your car got built, looks like it will be here late May." We ONLY get a call from him AFTER my wife emails and then calls him telling him we believe our car has been delivered.
As my wife said, she does not have a warm, fuzzy feeling at all.

So...to recap:
As told to Clubman customers at East Bay MINI-
"If you get your car serviced here, we'll waive the mark-up"
"Mark-up is for out of town buyers"
"Orders starting in May will be $2000 above MSRP"
That would be three strikes for them. None of those apply to us, so I suppose we should be at MSRP.

Warm or Fuzzy, but not both.
I guess it could be "anticipate the worst, hope for the best".
We just took delivery tonight from East Bay. For a car buying experience from a dealership, this one wasn't too bad. Maybe it was just late and they were already beat down.
We never really discussed a price with the MA, other than when we configured the car and had the computer print out. We were all prepared for the "market adjustments" and other mark-ups that we had heard about and seen on the cars back in April. When we went to sign the papers, there was just MSRP and the usual tax and license. No fees, no adjustments. The final cost came in just below our planned maximum amount. And the MA threw in the floor mats with no effort on our part...well, maybe a little effort. And also a welcome bag with a hat, travel cup and keychain.
So, some pros, some cons, but overall OK. A little more communication from the MA, especially early on, may have made this a more warm and fuzzy experience.
We'll see if the continue the upward trend when we have the due bill work done. I'm determined to work my MA over until I can get a damn spare tire for this car. I told him I had better count the lug bolts to see if they tried to short us on those as well. Didja charge me extra for windsheild wiper blades? :^)

I'm happy to see you paid msrp.
I offically canceled my Easy Bay Mini JCW Clubman(msrp plus $2500) order with my MA and ordered with Long Beach Mini (msrp plus $0) instead.
I will still use East Bay Mini for service since they're close to home.
And I'll probably go to them to buy my next Mini. They are nice people.
I guess people will pay the premium prices for the JCW cars in Northren
California. I wonder how many of those people that pay the higher than sticker prices subscribe to these forums. New thread: "How much above
msrp did you pay? with no freebies"
Wow, California sounds like a rough market for the consumer. Back her in Maryland, I was able to buy a Clubman S for MSRP. The dealer took off his $95.00 fee when I asked and threw in free mats even thought I had them down on my list as an option I was going to pay for.
When I was having trouble deciding if I was going to go with the deal, the Sales Manager offered to move my production date up by 3 weeks by putting me in a slot he had for a lot car. I ordered it this past Monday (Memorial Day). Last night (Weds), I checked the MINI internet site and the lot car had changed to my ordered car and I had moved into the "Scheduled for Production" phase.
So, upon reflection, my first experience with paying "Full Boat" for a car has not been so bad! Hopefully, my luck will hold.

Steve J, who is you MA. I have Robert; seems alright. Pretty laid back. They don't to try that hard at East Bay. "Here's some keys. Have fun. Bring it back sometime." Then they just wait for you to sign the paperwork.
I just ordered my Clubman S, and have a lot of extras ( basically everything) ..I am up to $ 35500 and they give me break of $ 1000 , so I finally have to pay 34500. Not very much, but better than nothing. Southampton , NY
I have a Clubman S on order. Dealer wouldn't budge from MSRP. I tried to get them to discount mud flaps and floor mats but they wouldn't. Proves the law of supply and demand is alive and well. I ordered April 30 and will have delivery in August.
mini of concord, ca
Hello all,
I'm a newbie here and a lurer for a while. Been thinking of ordering a clubman S and finally ordered yesterday (but have to wait till October
) Anyway, my MA (Claro Tagle) is very helpful and they are selling clubman at MSRP no markups
. If anyone in bay area are looking to purchase, look for Claro at Mini of Concord

Paid MSRP here for Niello MINI in Sacramento (we live closer to Mtn View or SF - but they wouldn't budge). Story in a nutshell (don't hold breath, it's not THAT exciting):
*test drove in Mtn View, $2000 mark up on Clubman S in April
*called SF, $2500 mark up
*called Concord, no mark up (MA was boasting that their dealership was the ONLY one in CA with no mark up) so we started communications in earnest
*called Niello on a whim to see if they would match no mark up...they did
*called Concord, ready to order, but they only had a June production slot...no!!
*called Niello...they had a May production slot (keep in mind, this was end of April)
*ordered from Niello on April 25, no mark up, and my PW/PW Clubman was born 5/16, booked on the boat 5/17, sailed on 5/21
*reconfirmed itemized pricing list with Niello to make SURE that we weren't to be paying any hidden fees (we're not) and we should be meeting Wubzy within a week I HOPE!
All this was done over the phone, via email, etc...we have not stepped foot into any MINI dealer except that first test drive in Mtn View, back in mid-April, which was really nice considering Sac is about 2+ hours away from us. And since I hate the whole in-dealership car buying experience, it's been great to keep updated via phone & email...and of course tweaking on the tracking sites. If we get floor mats and a cube thrown in, so much the better. At this point, I just want my car.
Anyone else have a Niello experience?

Maybe I am misunderstanding.
