Quesera, it would have been my luck for the holes to be drilled. At Sandia, I know Eryn, Mica, Michael, and Will but I'm not familiar with Faron. Also, I ordered and received a front license plate frame which I thought connected to the tow hook but it connects to the lower plastic mesh of the airdam area. I would have used it but it only fits the larger "S". So it is a waste of $50.00 but I will order a tow hook adapter in the next few weeks. Until then, I will be breaking the law, breaking the law!

So I mentioned getting the tow-hook bracket to my MA today, and they cautioned me to NOT run it through the car wash.

Make sense to anyone?

The one I saw was this one....

kbleicher, the minispeed contraption is about the same thing as the GoMiniGo, which I have. Both frames are adjustable and about $55.

Texas requires front plates, but...many don't have them.

Today while running and stopped at a crosswalk, I counted 100 cars and 31 didn't have front plates. That's a lot of law breakers.

Not having a front plate only gives the fuzz an excuse to pull you over.
I'll let them pull me over and keep the front plate at home.

Heres a little something I recieved in my email today.... thought it might be worth sharing here, since we're talking about license plates.

INFO FROM A STATE TROOPER....PLEASE READ!!!!!

A woman said her son found his license plate missing so he called
the police to file a report. They told him people were stealing the plates
to get free gas. Given the rise in gas prices, people have taken to stealing
license plates, putting them on their car, then getting gas and running. The
gas station will have 'your' license plate # and you could be in trouble for
'pump and run' Check your car periodically to be sure you still have a
plate. If you should find it missing, file a report immediately!!! Keep an
eye on your license plate! Make sure you always know it's there! When the
license plate is reported as the 'drive off vehicle', it's YOU they contact!
Be aware!!!! Be aware of your license plates, most of us never look to see
if the plates are there or not.

Md, that's funny stuff.
Who knows if it's total crap.
The fact that's allegedly from a trooper makes it suspect.
Snopes.com lists the email and versions going back years.
As long as gas is expensive, your plates and gas tank are targets.

Who'd believe a Mini owner would need to steal gas!

Either drive without mounting the front plate (it's only for a few days anyway), with the plate in the car ---- or, if you're uncomfortable doing that, get another temporary tag.

Very Good Point, MD-In-UK. Just this evening, our local TV news carried a story making that same point.....people stealing license plates (or sometimes covering up their license plate) in order to steal gas.

Where I'm at(Twin Cities), every gas station I've been to lately has been prepay only, so stealing plates wouldn't do much good. Hadn't thought of that one.

I don't want to drill the front of the car to put a plate on for 15 days.

Should I:
  1. Park the Clubby for 15 days?
  2. Figure out a way to temp mount the plate? (Suggestions Welcome)
  3. Drive it with rear plate only and keep the front plate on the dash. (Officer the plate holder is on backorder at the dealer)
As a side note, the Clubby is moving to Mississippi in the moving van. It was that or the spousal unit and three dogs (1 large, 2 Medium) in the Clubby for 2,600 miles. At least it's not going on an open car carrier.
Just don't put your front plate on. It's a secondary offense so unless you get pulled over for something else chances are in 15 days you will be fine.

With my last MINI Cooper S I didn't put the front plate on and got 2 speeding tickets over the course of almost 3 years and I NEVER got a ticket for not having a front plate.

Here is another interesting license plate mount. It hides the plate away underneath the front of the vehicle. Not sure it it could mount to a mini yet but i will have to look at the underside of the bumper to see if there is enough mounting room.
