In Assembly

AskMINI told me this morning that I'm in the Assembly shop, and should be completed by the 7th. WOW! and YAY! My hopes of actually getting the car in Frbruary were pretty low until this morning. Now, I'm growing more and more certain I'll get it close to the release date.

Anyone else with me? Someone started a Week 2 support group over in 1st gear... We can track them together over there...

We ordered on Dec 12, we have the #1 production spot at the dealer, yet, both the Owner's Lounge and AskMINI says that the car is on order/scheduled for production but the date is still TBD. Not sure as to what's going on. I am going to give them another week or so and check back with my MA if the status does not change. As long as I get the car delivered by the first week of March, we will be golden.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered Nov 22nd at Mini of Towson, #1 on the allocation. Ask Mini says production date TBD.

My dealer submitted my order on 12/26. It has been 'On Order' in the OL since then. I called up Ask Mini and they confirmed it is still in that state. When I asked them when it is expected to hit production he said it will be Febuary. That jives with what I read somewhere else hearing from their dealer that the next US clubmans are week 5... I wish I had ordered mine earlier, it would have been to receive it in Feb.

If US spec Clubmans are indeed week 5 builds, then (at least for those of us in the East Coast) we will not receive our cars until mid to late February. Not bad. We may still make it for launch day delivery.

What most consumers dont know about new car purchases is that the destination charge that's worked into the sticker price is from manufacturer to consumer, not manufacturer to dealer. Most of the cost of preparing a new car for delivery, including detail, paperwork, etc. is subsidized by the manufacturer thru the DC; what little left that is not covered reflects local market labor costs in excess of the DC. Depending on the market, this should be approximately $50, give or take a dime or two. Anything more is dealer profit (under false guise) because new car sales are the one aspect of a car dealership that don't make money. Nothing better than a cool $249.50 on top of every new car transaction, at least for the dealer, eh?

$60 is what my dealer "eats" with all his new car purchases because, in his 68 year history, he has *never* charged a delivery/processing fee to any of his customers--nor has he ever charged a dealer markup, even on the $112K M6 cabrio sitting in his showroom.

Good news. Our MA called this morning and said Hot Chocalate #001 should begin production in 4 to 5 days. OL still has it On Order. If that holds up we are looking at delivery by the end of February.

YAY! There aren't enough people here reporting good news about their Clubman order. Mine has completed production, but now it's probably sitting in Southampton gathering dust.:impatient It doesn't ship until the 21st! You east-coasters are lucky, it takes so much less time to get them from MINI to you! Hopefully there will be a few of us with good news on launch day.

I ordered OTTO Dec. 7th. It finally shows it is scheduled for production, but I don't know how long that is until it is actually being built. I have the VIN number though so I have hope.
I was on the list since Jan. 4, 2006 so finally I can get excited (well, I've been in a state of excitement for two years, but now I am starting to believe I'll actually live to see it). I'm hoping for delivery at the introduction time. My dealer assured me I was in the first delivery, so keeping fingers and toes crossed. Better start making more room in the garage for her. Buffy is going to have to share again. She took over the entire garage after we sold Rich's M3, now she'll have to move over a little.
Rich bought a new charger for Buffy as he figures I won't be driving her much once Otto arrives. Can't do that, my apes have to get out and I do love her with her top down.

Latest news is that the production date is Jan. 16th. It probably won't be here in time for the launch. I asked if the dealership is having a party for Clubby, but they aren't. Seems strange to not have a little party for it. Oh well. I'll have my own when it arrives.

I'm betting that since your order went in 5 days after mine that your status will change to scheduled for production on the 15th. That would probably put it at a Jan. 21 build date if I'm figuring it right.
My MA says mine won't arrive for the Feb. 16th debut, but since they aren't even having any kind of party for it I don't suppose it matters. I was surprised as when the M3 came out BMW invited all the people who had ordered down for a luncheon.
I know MINI doesn't seem as highly regarded in the Penske Automotive or BMW group, but it still surprised me. Guess we are more excited than they are. I thought the MINI was supposed to elicit a fun attitude, but it seems missing at the dealerships.

If you ordered from OTTO and are getting close, my order went in in 10/07, let us know so I can see your car when it comes in I live around the corner from OTTO's.

I named the Clubby OTTO. I ordered from MINI North Scottsdale. I hope your dealership has a party of some sort. I won't go down on the launch date as it is 120 miles and my Clubman should arrive shortly after that. I need photos for an article, but I suspect they will keep a couple of demo pre-specs.
Although my deposit was made in Jan. '06 Scottsdale would only order it when MINI would accept it, so the order went in Dec. 7th. I suspect some dealerships told people they put the order in, but as no U.S. cars could be made till Jan. it was kind of misleading.
I was very anxious after waiting 24 months for it, sight unseen for many months.

Maybe I'm in the minority but the dealers sound like real dicks to me. Especially with the 'we need some employment/income info before you even talk to us' crap. Maybe it's because our economy sucks but how about sending over some more cars instead of taking advantage of the people!

The minority part, sorry, but no chance I'm going to put money on a car I've never sat in, and already pay extra without any options or customization. Without taking it for a drive, seeing how bad rear visibility really is, etc.

I traded in my '05 BRGM MC on December 21st, ordered my BRGM MC Clubman the same day and also received my production number. For the last week, mine has been "scheduled for production" and I got my VIN. I told Sandia Mini in Albuquerque that I wanted to be on their 1st list so hopefully I will be one of the first to get. That was sometime around the 1st of December. It is not that I want to be first but that I'm using my daughter's car right now and I'm putting on too many miles for her liking.

My MCC has been Born!

I put my deposit down at NW Mini in May and received my production number the first week of December. On the website it moved to production scheduled last weekend and yesterday to waiting transport.

It is scheduled to depart Southampton on Monday the 21st aboard the ISOLDE and arrive in Port Hueneme, CA on the 11th of Februaury. It will have to go through processing and then be trucked to my dealer in Tacoma, WA. I would guess with processing and dealer installed options it should be ready for pick-up the last week of February. YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Here is the website I found the info on how to track: http://www.jwardell.com/mini/2006/10...-ordered-mini/

Just checked the WW tracking site and entered my Clubby's VIN number. But it appears the car has not been booked on any vessel as of yet...

Some good info and the links here: http://www.jwardell.com/mini/2006/10...n-ordered-mini

Have your MA check the name of the vessel it is on (or call and get the info from 1-800-ASKMINI).
