San Francisco Auto Show does have the Clubman!!

I wrong in my previous posting. The SF Show has a Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S Clubman on display. A Mini person at the show said he was also surprised that the Clubman was at the show. It could be that the Clubman appearance was always in the plan - or maybe Mini USA was listening to customers.

I was very happy to get a chance to see exactly how the rear side door and extended seating space worked. For my uses the arrangement should work well. I was able to slink into the rear seat just using the rear side door. But when I also side the front seat forward it was very easy to get in back seat.

The Clubman looked like the right size to me. Gotta have one!

Did you think it looked like a station wagon? In some pictures it does.

Yes, they actually have both the Cooper and Cooper S Clubmen. I checked them out with my son today. I was impressed. I continue to be disappointed with the lack of a real roof rack attachment system and the fact that you cannot order body color rear quarters, but otherwise it's a pretty cool vehicle.

I was impressed with it as well. The rear seat was usable and comfortable. The car is proportioned well, it doesn't look as big as it does in photos. On the down side, and this very nit-picky, I thought the barn doors felt rather thin and rattley when opening and closing, not a real solid feel when they latched shut. I heard other people at the show comment on the same thing. On the whole, a very nice car, I think Mini has a real winner here. It will appeal to a much bigger audience than the current Mini has.

Yeah, that irks me as well. Apparently you-ification only goes so far.

And a third door, and twin vertical doors instead of a hatch, and humps on the roof. But yeah, other than that, it's all the same.
