How much will the Cabrio

devalue with the new models coming out? For instance I paid about 30k in 04 for a fully loaded MCC, I expect to sell it in about 2 years when I get to 45k miles.

I'm keeping mine FOREVER.

I'm betting that someday it will be worth more than I paid for it. If I don't wreck it. Or burn it up. Or trash it. 20 or 30 years from now.

Really, I think it's going to be a very desirable car long-term. First generation MINI cabrio w/supercharger. Relatively small number vs. the coupes.

But bamatt's right - "Who Knows?"

Yep - I am sure that the new MINI cabrios will be very nice when they arrive (since they will have begun to work the bugs out of the "new MINI" by that time and apply their knowledge to the new cabrio line) but having a loaded JCW S Cabrio built less than a year from the "end of the line" should be worth something if kept in good shape (I am wagering). Still, that value is not something I ever intend to monetize....

There are probably a lot of parallels with other car lines that went through generational changes - but still had rabid fans for cerrtain periods of the car's evolution (ahhhh, those early Mustangs and Thunderbirds....)

What we do know -
  • People are nuts about the current MINI generation
  • People are just beginning to form opinions about the new MINI - and the global affection for the car could go either way as it rolls out
Personally, I am very cold to the styling of the new car but could learn to like it I suppose. Every time I look at my current dash, I just grin. My friends call it a work of art (at least 2 friends from different cities on different occasions).

I am guessing that the 2005-06 MINIs will maintain an extraordinary amount of value as representing the "bugs shaken out" end of this amazing popular car line in its current form - with the new body style and sizing, the formula may or may not work to carry that affection forward.

Without being any more long winded - who knows ?????

Bill

Since the MCC/MCSC will be continued to be built in 07 and 08 I would think their value should stay solid.

I think they are worth there weight in gold...

Hot Orange, lowest convertible productions numbers and fewer MCC's produced then MCSC.
So i guess mine is rare.
