R52 pulling the trigger tomorrow MCSc
pulling the trigger tomorrow MCSc
Hi people: I'm doing it ..really no joke.. 2nd biggest investment after my house... I was debating if I should go with the MCc or go all the way with MCSc with all the packages. 1 friend tells me" hey man you don't need leather seats, don't get the S ,just go with base MCc... Another freind says" hey man you work hard for it,,do it.. others says " you'll regret buying that toy car after a few months, get something more practical... .. :impatient So here's what I say ' Hell I got the $$ I'm diving in head first and not looking back" So here is the big quesion??? what MOD should I do next?
I don't know about those "run flats"
sort of out of my world on that... kalm

Conrgrats on the new car.
My MC is very practical. I don't haul pianos for a living so it serves all the rest of my needs very well! =o)
Mods can go off in so many different directions - performance, looks, convenience, etc. I'm not big on mods, myself. I just wanted a little more sound, and a couple of minor visuals, and I'm very happy. Some people go b@lls-to-the-wall. It just depends on your preferences.

Congrats on the decision! I have an MCSc with all the packages (except JCW) + leather. It's been almost two years since I picked it up and I have absolutely no regrets - I'm sure you'll love it.
My first mod was a Whalen shift **** (put on at delivery) and within 200 miles, I ditched the runflats in favor of Toyo Proxies 4 all season tires. Since then I've added: 15% pulley, CAI, ECU remap, rear sway bar, front strut brace, Koni FSD struts, Aux port, and parcel shelf. I guess what I'm saying is, there are plenty of ways to keep your love of the car "fresh", lol.
The pulley/CAI were the best performance mods. The Koni's best change I made to the suspension and the whalen the best cosmetic addition.
Good luck with whatever you choose - there are so many great ways to spend more money on the MCSc.

Congratulations! and welcome to NAM.
One of the coolest things about MINIs (IMHO) is you'll probably never see another quite like it. It's easy (and I think required . . . right?) to personalize.
Oh and there's this place.
What do you call it ? the MINI thing . . . cult? (seems too harsh), culture?, club? (too soft), following?, Huddling masses yearning to be free?
Anybody?

congrats on your choice!
i stronly suggest driving both cars before you make your decision. if available in your area, look into www.zipcar.com; they have coopers available for hourly/daily rental (don't think they have cabrios, though. :( ) after a few days with a cooper, i was sure that i would be happy with a MC + options....
then i test drove an S.
don't get me wrong, the MC is everthing that your looking for in a mini... but the S just has the extra something that pushes the envelop juuuust enough to justify the added cost.

I have an MCSc and am already thinking about what my next MINI will be. While I love my car, I probably will go with an MCc next time. Why? A few reasons. Gas mileage is one. (I only get about 23 mpg and I know that I would get more with the MC). Another is handling--I think the MC is more responsive while the MCS is more like a bullet. And because of that, it has made me a more aggressive driver, which is probably not a good thing for me. Of course, everyone has their reasons for ordering an MC or an MCS. Either way, it's a wonderful car and I'm sure you will love driving it.
Just curious. Are you placing an order for a 2007 or buying off the lot? (Orders on 06's stopped on Nov 5.)

I own an MCc and find it to be more fun to drive than my old Miata and that's saying something. It has plenty of get-up-and-go, an incredible flickability and can be driven as hard as you want and still get fuel mileage in the mid 30's. Yes, the MCS is faster but be sure you can live with the heavier steering/weight of the MCSc and the abysmal fuel economy.
I just picked up an MCSc with all the packages too a few weeks ago. The first thing I had done was a rear sway bar (by the dealer before I even picked up the car - so unfortunately I can't comment a whole lot on how much better it makes the car handle).
Then I got rid of the runflats. I lived with runflats on my Z4 for over 3 years (and a ride that was much harsher than any MINI) and the security was nice but just decided to go without them on the MINI and enjoy the better ride and handling.
Next is an M7 strut brace (on order) and probably the M7 under strut system to help make the convertible a little more rigid.
Maybe later a pulley upgrade to get a bit more power.
And I so much want to replace the plastic dash with the John Cooper Works leather dash, but I haven't convinced myself that it's really worth the $700 or so.

Congrats on pulling the trigger. Just drive it and see what you feel lke doing. For me, it's great the way it is - after a while my stripes didn't feel quite right, so I am doing something about that. But let time pass and the answer will become clear. I once read that you should not do anything to a house until you have lived in it for 6 months. I tried to follow that on the one I'm in now (came real close) and I think it was good, gave me time to figure out what was REALLY important. Might be wise with a car, too. Might be harder to wait, though

2B, I looked at lots of cars before ordering mine. There are faster cars, more expensive cars, better handling cars, more prestigious cars, whatever, but it comes down to what makes you smile! I wanted the "S", my wife wanted the convert, so we have the "hot" convertible coming in just a few weeks. We wanted an 06 because they're not changing for a couple years, and I wanted the supercharger whine. Everytime I look at even a picture, it makes me smile. What do you suppose will happen when the car actually arrives? Hmmmmm I wonder! lol Have fun picking out all the goodies, but remember, you only live once! best wishes!!
