Why no chrome gas cap for MCS Cabrio?

Does anybody know the technical reason why Mini will not put the chrome gas cap of the MCS Cabrio? And all the after factory dealers won't allow it either...
From Minimania site
GAS CAP UPGRADE KIT FROM MINI COOPER TO S

Upgrade your Cooper gas cap to the stylish S gas cap. Direct replacement with no drilling necessary. The chrome cap flips up to allow access to the stock gas cap. Replacement collar comes primered grey ready to paint. Paint satin black yourself or take it to your local body shop to have color matched to the body.

NOT FOR CABRIO MODELS.

Sorry but I like the chrome. Why won't it fit? TIA. Michael

Steve - I just had an unpleasant run-in with a pothole and destroyed one of my wheels. I am also needing a set of tires, so will probably replace all four wheels and tires at the same time. What kind of set up do you have?

I'm trying to get some ideas, and like what you are running!

I'm running Rota Subzero's in Royal Black (black with polished lip) They are 17x7.5's and the tires are Nitto 555's in 225/40 R 17. You've got a nice looking Cabrio there.
