>>I think that antenna at the top of the windscreen, looks ridiculous!

Same here. Why didn't they just do a sidemount or find some ingenious way of roof mounting it?

Now if they made it a hard top convertible... then maybe.. MAYBE it'd be keen...

It looks like a hack job, unfinished, style-less. That Windshield BAR looks half-assed. If they were to do this right, they would extend the boot and tuck that top in it, cover it with a slick lid. You Lose a lot of Styling shape with a soft top...

UGLY UGLY UGLY

For a cruise down the beach or in the country it's fine, but I'm sure it won't handle quite as well. Some of the MINI's great handling is attributed to it's super-rigid body, even the windshield and side-rear windows are stress members.

From what I heard, the MINI cabrio is going to be released as "MINI Open" and will retail for about $2K more than the base cooper. The roll bar will stay intact for obvious saftey reasons. This is the first photo I have seen where they put the antenea at the very front. The other photos didn't have that. I sure hope that is not how it is released. I personally like everything else. A MINI Open is a cool name and a cool car. Should be a blast to have on the warm days.

>>Well, minus ONE for MINI.... It looks too much like a VW Cabrio.... ICK!

Good thing MINI is still in the green overall
no points for the MINI One (not in states)
plus one for the MINI Cooper
plus one for the MINI Cooper S
minus one for the MINI Convertible
equals plus one overall

Future potentials:
MINI Cooper RS, plus two (I say so!)
MINI truck, plus one

Looks like mostly good things coming up!

Cheers,
Ryan

VW CABRIO

Just Too Similar....
It looks like the Cabrio drops the top better...conceals it nicer, look at the photoshopped Yellow image with the top down, there is no way all that top can fit in the small casing.

to the hairdresser comment.

I see I missed the boat on posting pics by a little bit. Maybe I should have taken my own advise and used the search function.

Ok, off to delete my other thread and keep the discusion focused here.

When BMC started putting radios in classic Minis, they put the antennae on the front - centered at the leading edge ... didn't look good then, either!
... and the whole top-down problem could be fixxed if they just make the thing removable - take it off all the way and stow it in the boot! ... it would look much better as a 'roadster' than as a convertable ...
