Title: Automatic transmission problem – 2008 Mini R32 (R56) with fault codes 1786, 1787, 1698
Body:
Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with the automatic transmission on my 2008 Mini Cooper (R56). The car seems to be shifting poorly, and I ran a diagnostic scan which revealed the following fault codes in the DME (ECM2):
1786 – DME: Transmission ratio actuator – range of performance problem
1787 – DME: Transmission ratio actuator – open circuit
1698 – DME: Transmission control module – activation fault
Also, in the Kombi (instrument cluster), I have a fault indicating a problem with the electronic control unit.
Battery voltage was around 14.13V at the time of the scan, so that seems okay.
What I have already done:
Replaced the speed sensor
Replaced the idle air control valve position sensor (stepper motor drain position)
Tested with another CVT transmission control unit (ECU)
Unfortunately, the issue is still present.
Has anyone dealt with these codes before? Could this be a faulty transmission actuator, a wiring issue, or something else? Any advice on where to start troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help, and sorry for any inconvenience.
