Brake Sensors

Got my first Mini in July - 2006 R52 164K miles.

I'm replacing brake pads this weekend and wanted advice about replacing the sensors. Should I do those while everything is apart?

Thanks!

Yes, you are there and probably going to break the old one.

OTOH, if you're enough of a "wrench" to do your own brake job, then you're probably going to stay on top of the condition of your brake pads. If that's the case, just tie back the old sensors with ty-wraps. They don't send a signal as long as they're intact.

I’m not running them in mine either, but I wasn’t going to suggest it.

side note if you do break one, just connect both wires together and tuck out of way, stupid front sensors 😉

With an R52 if the brake pad warning light is not on, you can reuse the sensors and the light will stay off.
You only need to replace them if the warning light is on.
