07 ODB Connection Not Working

All, I cannot get my ODB port on my mini to work... I've checked my fuses (both boxes), connections, and general area, but i can't seem to find anything to identify the problem. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my brake lights always stay on and run the battery down... anyhow, I'm open to check / recheck anything to get this going. Thanks in advance.

What OBD code reader are you trying to use? Have you checked to ensure it is compatible with the BMW/MINI/RollsRoyce OBD2 coding?

Brake lights stay on, is this also when your car is turn on and active? If it is I would guess your brake light switch is broken or it is possible that your BC1 (Body Control Module 1) located in the right side of the passenger side foot well area. (check to see if it is wet/damp - that would be a bad thing)

At least that is a place to start ...

James, thanks for your feedback...
OBD code reader (Maxwell) works fine on my 2010 mini no problem, but on 2007 no power, no lights at all.
Brake lights, I replaced the brake light switch (did an adjustment too, not sure if right) but I haven't looked at the passenger side for BC1... some youtube videos say it could be a resister... not sure but will check into that too!
Thanks so much!

James, I have pulled the BC1 module and have ordered another one off of ebay... I have also been using a heat blower to dry out affected areas... this may solve my OBD and brake light problem at the same time!
