WHY???? That doesn't make any sense when the window buttons are right there at the header panel.
I didn't hold the button that long....I just wanted to see if the pump motor stopped after a bit

Designed in Britain where its seldom warm enough to drive with the roof AND windows down perhaps? Proximal location of window button is convenient for the few occasions when it is

once the top is down, and while still holding the button, the pump motor will stop making noise after a few seconds

Bryan (sweating bullets there for a while)
thanks for trying this. That was my assumption of "normal" operation.

I still need to swap out my module and see if that make s a differance but for the moment its working witha constant red flashing light after it opens so I am in no real rush as we have had some nice days and it stays down most of the time anyway! last summer I didnt have the option to put it up and down so I feel like its a whole new car at this point even though its not "working correctly"! lol

The flashing red light is probably indicating that its expecting to see some sensor indicating that the roof is down and "locked", which in turn would allow it to move on to the next step of raising the windows if you continue to hold the button down. I would suspect one of the position sensors if that isnt happening.
Somewhere on the www I stumbled upon the logic ladder diagram for this, but it was a while ago and it wasn't what I was seeking at the time... This might be it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6S...VLOcHeCiIo7JsA

When was yours built?
Microswitch for stowage lock left and microswitch for stowage lock right from manufacturer date
09/2005
(My "05" was actually built in 04 so doesnt have these extra sensors)
The two microswitches tell the Convertible Top Module (CVM) whether the roof pillar is locked on the
left and right.
Only when this process is complete is the convertible top considered to be open.
The two microswitches are connected separately to the convertible top module (each microswitch has
separate input).

Further info on the hall sensor locations is in this bulletin
