Footwell Module

I’ve sent my my footwell module off to get refurbished. Wondering if it is ok to crank and drive my car without the module. I have several electrical problems with the car and would like to check fuses, battery, break lights and a few other things that I would like to test while I wait for my module to be repaired. Can I further damage my electrical system by cranking and testing the aforementioned without a footwell module? Thanks

I can’t give an educated answer, but personally, I would not do it. I believe that the FRM controls a large number of things including lights, your gauge cluster, windows, and more. I don’t know everything it handles, but I know enough that I would not want to take the risk. You’d be taking a heck of a chance that could get very costly if it goes badly.

I would wait until I got it back and installed. Until then just let it rest, lol, so to speak. If you are having multiple issues or gremlins, sometimes it’s better to tackle one thing at a time anyways, so that you can keep track of what actually fixes an issue and what doesn’t. The FRM has multiple functions, so it is very possible that some of the other things you wish to check, get cured by the refurbished FRM.
Ultimately you will do whatever you want to..... it’s your car!
Whatever you choose to do, please post the results from the refurb, and who you had do it, your satisfaction with them, etc. This could be very useful info for some of us, since the FRM is a known issue on these vehicles.

Thanks. I’ll heed your advice to not crank the vehicle or try to troubleshoot more than one problem at a time. I’ll keep everyone updated after receipt and installation of my repaired Footwell Module.
