Just bought JCW Astro black 2008

I just bought the Astro black sideline edition car that was sitting in Tucson and thought I’d introduce myself and say thank you for all the information in the forum.

Its a JCW car with all the options, a little rough around the edges but I will work on getting it back to its former glory. It was sold in 2017 by a dealer here in Scottsdale who posted a video that’s still available, at that time the car had a LOTSC badge but the JCW door sills, not sure if it’s one of the last 100...seems a few were delivered like that?

Here is the video.

So here are a few questions

My Dad had an R56 Mini One which I loved to drive, there is more flex in this car than a the r56, is that normal (I just bought a tws x brace that should help)
There is a pull to the right under hard acceleration, it’s pretty subtle and might just be the diff, is that normal?

The car has 18inch wheels with v cheap Walmart 215/40/18 tires, how much is the ride impacted by the big wheels?

I’ll take care of all the fluids, belt, expansion tank + power steering tank this week.

Then i’ll Look for a shop have a shop to do the rear sway bar + various poly bushing and then alignment? Any shop recommendations in the Pheonix area?

Cheers
Steve

Looks pretty cool. I keep forgetting the convertible was a gen 1 car for longer than the hardtop.

The pulling to the right is probably torque steer. It's normal. The ride will get much better on smaller wheels and tires with taller sidewalls.

I am 99% sure that is a LoTS car as they were all Astro Black with a unique (for the convertible) black version of the “Sidewalk Package” and the JCW package. It is possible that the original or a previous owner had the door sills replaced with the JCW ones as they were a dealer option (or DIY job).

Edit: just watched the video and I’m 99.9% sure that’s a LoTS car that had JCW sills, JCW shift ****, and JCW Alcantara steering wheel added. Nice find!

Thanks, that’s what I suspected on the wheels, other things to sort out first but I’ll keep my eyes open for some 17s.

And I am pretty sure it’s a LOTSC cars but impossible to tell from the vin so I guess I’ll never know the #.

Any AZ owners on here that recommend a shop?

Wow nice find, the rare LOTSC. Some got the JCW aero kit and JCW treatment, thats a super rare find and one $$$ MINI back in the day, I remember seeing these new in the Showroom when they came out. Door sills with number plate are the give away

Here is the main thread, nice find.
