R52 R52 Sunroof/vert top issues

Just thinking about it. Is no any adjustment of top latch or cable. So only one way to synchronize the latches is take motor out, set roof and latches in the same position, and put motor back? What do You think?
BTW two things I going to do is check black plastic, clean and grease mechanism.

ON JB weld, people have used it in the past on the cable with some success. I know a couple of cables that were mended and cracked and snapped again. Most people said it lasted a couple season, but it was a bit of a pain to fix, then you could always have the other side snap down the road.

ECS, sorry for the lack of info. It is an S model, I know I need the 1404MM belt. I stopped at my local NAPA today today to check if they had it, and they do, they carry Gates belts, which is perfect. Even better, the NAPA stores in Omaha have a sale day every 2nd Saturday of the month, 30% off before 9:00, 20% off thereafter. I always try to get at least my general maintenance goods on those days.
I would like to try soldering the cables back in, but am concerned with the effect the heat would have on the plastic mechanism. Not sure it will work the way I would like.

No problem. Ok, just look at the old belt for the numbers (length) or measure it. People put aftermarket pulleys/ underdrive belts that require a different size belt. Also if you have the JCW Tuning kit, it will have a different belt. Which i dont think you have based off what you told me.

The JB weld will work for a fix but it takes skill and time. good luck.

These rectangular tabs, 1 needs to be above the rail, and 1 has to be below the rail
FINALLY, I have a functioning convertible!!!!!
I thought I would add 1 bit of info about the 4 part videos; in the 3rd video when he is talking about how to insert the mechanism into the slides, there is 1 part that is missing, and very easy to overlook. there are 2 tabs that have to straddle the upper slide rail. When I installed one side, both of these tabs were below the upper rail and I did not notice it. The sunroof would move back and forth but it was always binding, and put some gouges in the rails on both right and left tracks. We pulled the front ends back off, did some filing to smooth the rails out, and things are now functioning great!! It sure is nice to finally have my convertible.
I will add a couple of pics to show what I am describing, but they are only of the correct orientation. The 2 rectangular tabs, 1 needs to be above the upper track and the other needs to be below it. When reinstalling I noticed how easy it was for both to be below the upper rail. Hope this might help someone else avoid the problem I had today.
