Odd ***** on my R52

We recently purchased a 2005 Cooper S Convertible and couldn't be happier. I'm predicting some issues but it is the 6spd and the power steering issue was fixed under recall.

However, I've seen pictures of many MINIs and can't explain the fours *****/posts that are at the base of the A pillar and rear of the car. It looks like a mount for some kind of rack attachment? Any ideas?

Also, the seller was the second owner and didn't use the accessory bluetooth control (outboard). Can someone explain how to set up a bluetooth connection? I hold the voice button and SETUP displays and then after trying several voice commands, you hear "sorry" through the stereo.

thanks,
Barry

Hello Barry,

Post up a pic so I can see what it is.

Factory MINI Cooper BMW ULF Bluetooth kit : I have that kit also. Very rare.

The Bluetooth is aftermarket...pretty sure... factory buttons were usually on the steering wheel...might be a GOOD thing...the factory gen1 version was late to the market (about 2006 even though buttons started appearing on the steering wheel in 2005)....
So if you poke around, you might find the module and a model #.
The studs....guessing that maybe it was a cover...but never seen them before.

It's the OEM "Hands Free" Bluetooth dealer add-on accessory.

BTW, this document has Bluetooth pairing instructions, which you asked about in another thread.

Thanks. I agree and believe it's the full kit. I've seen the posts that included the install and pairing guide for the hands free system kit
http://motoringfile.com/howto/offici..._bluetooth.pdf
but my kit has the voice button on the control module.

I'm still confused how to pair my phone because when I watch the video in the thread, I should be able to turn the ignition to position 1 while holding the button in the armrest area down for 2 seconds to establish pairing mode but nothing happens. If I release and press the button, It prompts for a voice command and PHONE displays on the radio.

Did you ever get it to pair?

Thank you, I did. I was lucky enough to find the pairing code written in some of the vehicle documentation files. However, the connection drops and is buggy. I have a Samsung Note 3. Maybe the module doesn't like Android.

Great! Its also on the module itself and its 4 digit number sticker on the module (located behind the speedo itself, you have to pop the speedo out to see it) which if not in the owner's booklets.
