Back up sensor

So my backup sensors have not worked since I first put the aero kit on 7 years ago. Totally removed them from the bumper even with no problem, no beeping, etc.
Just this week the beep has decided to come back when I put the car in reverse.

Is there a way (fuse?) to just completely disable this thing?

Yes there is a five amp fuse you can pull. It is under the bonnet next to the intake. Pop the cover off and on the underside if the lid it will tell you which one to pull.

You can pull the fuse. The back up sensor ( PDC ) can get water in them , when they work they make a high pitch clicking sound. When you put you ear near them and you dont here the click while in reverse, its bad. When one fails , you get the long beeeep. In stead of short beep confirming your in reverse and the PDC is working.

Most likely the sensor sat in the sun , dried out a bit and started working again. But once water get into it again they don't work and you will get the long beeeep when you put it into reverse , they are color coded and ordered to body color. There are plain black ones also non painted that will work, but you will have the black dots. 4 in the rear bumper.

Thanks. I'll pull the fuse. My rear bumper is sensor free! (I have one on my desk at work actually)
Just thought it was strange it decided to start beeping again after so long, for no reason.

Also, you can check to see which one is failing by putting the car in revers with the key in the first position and listening to each one. You should hear them making noise.

Try fuse F40 and F41 in the footwell fusebox. However, not recommended because the PDC shares the fuse with the power steering fan.

Hmmm. There are 2 5amp fuses under the hood and neither one has a symbol that even remotely looks like something for PDC.
I don't think they got wet and dried out, as there are no sensors on the car anymore. The car is stored winters and not driven in the rain much either. Ghost in the machine.

Checked the Bentley manual and it has absolutely nothing for PDC.

You were given misinformation. See my earlier post. My wiring diagram says F41. However, you shouldn't pull this fuse, because of the power steering fan.

You can simply unplug the PDC speaker, but pulling panels to get to it would be a bit of a pain in the R52. I can try to look up the location of module A81 on my computer at home.

My sensors make me crazy. Sometimes they make the right sounds, sometimes they keep beeping no matter what and sometimes they are quiet. I've got to search out the speaker and shut them up! A camera would have made more sense to me. My Subaru Outback has a camera and it works great. Maybe I could install one of them.

I've looked through all my manuals trying to find a location for the speaker with no luck.
Does anyone know where it is?
I'm going to be ripping the interior apart post Dragon to do a stereo install, and would LOVE to kill that thing then.

To find the speaker, simply listen for where the sound is coming from. Turn the ignition to 2nd position (but engine not running) and put the transmission in reverse, and you can search at your leisure. The PDC module is a small box near the right rear stereo speaker. You should be able to disconnect the module. I wonder if the PDC speaker is on that box.
