R52 Water pump replacement
Water pump replacement
Trying to help out a neighbor with his 2005 Mini Cooper S...
Two weeks ago the car was overheating. Removed the thermostat and boiled it on the stove. The water was boiling and the temperature was pushing 215 degrees (tested with a meat thermometer). It never opened so we replaced it. All was well for about 10 days.
We now see a coolant leak from the water pump.
Given that we still have the roof ropes to fix, we don't want to go to the dealer on this repair.
Does anyone have documented steps for replacing the water pump? I see other forums covering other Mini versions, but nothing for the R52. Not sure how close the pictures or procedures are.
