R52 JCW question - factory option or kit

I have a friend who is looking at an R52 that is a JCW "kit" and he asked me if JCW was a kit or was it a factory option in 2007 (or both). I have no clue? I didn't find it in a quick search so I figured I'd ask. From the looks of the one he was looking at, this is a kit, as it does not resemble the JCW cars I have seen. A pic of a 2007 JCW factory car would be appreciated if you have one. thanks!

I was told it was ONLY the a kit on the 2005 convertibles. After that the kit was available aftermarket, but they also sold a shipped JCW car. The guys here could better tell you which that one is.

By the way, that price seems very reasonable for those miles on that age car. About 3 grand less than I paid for my 2005 with about the same miles just about 10 months ago.

Is why mine is a "S" with a kit. You will see a noticeable difference between the typical "S" and the JCW kit "S". I liked the "S" hardtop I drove, but still haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face with the JCW.

That being said the conv, does have some twist (understandable) that the hard top does not, but no one can convince me that it isn't worth it!

That is a good price. I got mine for $16,998 in Dec-10 with 26K miles.

I am not an expert, but I would say that unless you can prove it has a JCW kit, to me it seems like it just has the CAI form JCW. A JCW should be slightly more money, at least here in South Fla.

Most JCW have al kinds of emblems point this out, but again, I am no expoert, just what I have seen.

Just my $0.02

Exhaust tips are definitely NOT JCW, and under the hood there's only the JCW air filter housing. No JCW badges on the lower front grille, boot (trunk) lid, dashboard, so I'd say it's just a regular S, fitted with the JCW air intake. I added that to my MCSC for about $300.
