putting my mini cooper S in time need help
alright when I replaced the head gasket on myh aunts mini i marked the chain and the cam sproket but the marker wore off during the process. I think i got the timing off a tooth or two. the car runs and drives but has a miss in the upper rpms and seems down on power. when i put the timing triangle at 12 o-clock the number 1 piston isnt at Top dead center. if i want the timing mark to be at 12 oclock at tdc i would need to move the cam sproket about 3 teeth towards the fire wall. im not even sure if the arrow should be strait up at tdc but from my experience on other cars it should be, but I dont know since the mini is the worst car ive ever worked on. please please help or tell me what to do. Should i put the engine at TDC then make ther cam sproket be at 12 oclock
On the cam sprocket, align the angular timing mark to the center of the 'single' copper colored timing chain link.
On the crank sprocket, align the two timing marks on the gear to the two side-by-side copper colored chain links (centered).
