I do not know. I wrote a letter (with Photos) to the VP of MINI outlining the chain of events and my point of view. It may have help that I reminded them that I have owned multiple BMW's (and now MINI) going back to the mid-eighties. I am happy they decided to take care of a long time loyal customer. Also, this is the first time I have had to do anything like this...may have made a difference, not sure, just glad they are doing the right thing IMHO.
Probably less hassle to just buy a new one and call it a day. The top, on the other hand, is like $3000 to replace!
The Mini emblem on the steering wheel is welded to the underside of the horn cover, which is also the airbag cover. There's no stand-alone fix for the damaged emblem. The entire airbag assembly must be replaced... it isn't a few buckaroos.
My Dealer Princeton Mini replaced the horn cover under warranty, I also bent the Mini wings honking the horn with to much gusto. I have learned that to honk the horn you have to push on the sides of the horn button. Remembering this has kept the wings from bending on more than once.

Oooh... that's crazy! Glad you explained. Not a do it yourself job... I picture an exploding airbag and powder everywhere. Not funny.
Got my car back and the new top looks and operates perfectly...so far. I will keep an eye on the trouble spots and make sure this top does not get damaged. But, so far so good.
Good to hear. I really think your top was an anomaly - no pinching like that on mine nor on many others I've seen. But I know you'll be sufficiently paranoid from this point forward.
