I remember hearing that you should drive under 65 mph for the first 1,000 miles of the car's life. Does anyone know if this is true?
ps: one other question: I know one of our mini's is a R52... but what does that stand for?

I just read through my owner's manual and here is what I found under 'break-in' period:

the first 1250 miles
drive at varying engine and road speeds but don't exceed:
95 mph or 4500 rpm
also
avoid putting the accelerator in full-throttle or kickdown position
