Anyone have a problem with a VIN number not being in the system? When I bought my Mini (used), I called to get an estimate from insurance on the car and they told me to just get a VIN # when I bought it for an exact amount. When I called them and gave them the VIN on the paperwork it wasn't in their system, so thinking the paperwork was wrong I checked against the number on the Mini and sure enough the paperwork was correct. The insurance agent just kind of forced it through and just the other day I tried to get on Mini's Owners Club on the official Mini website and to register it needs a VIN, but low and behold the VIN I have directly off the car is not recognized. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

 

What year is your MINI? I remember reading somewhere that at some point in (05 or 06) some MINIs left the factory with the wrong VINs stamped on them. You might want to do a search on the forum and see if you come up with anything.

CarterMD has access to BMW/MINIs system and has been able to print out information for our vehicles. Might want to see if he pulls that VIN up as a valid number. If MINI's system doesn't show the number as valid, something's definitely up...

Mine is a 2005 so mabee thats the problem. Thanks for the help will try that, guess I've gotta get my VIN again.
