things to look out for on my 2005 MCS conv...
hey there. i just got my 2005 MCS conv with 42,000 miles from a car dealer and i have a few question and hope the GURUR here can help me...
The VIN of car check out with MINIUSA and was bought and serviced by them. i have till july 2009 for the remainng 50,000 miles warranty.
1. Should i bring it it to MINI dealership so that they can do a thorough check on the engine, gearbox, cabrio etc? though i have to pay them for it($99). it's a manual and i am not sure if previous was careful with it as i heard gearbox is very expensive ot change.
2. it has brand new run flat tires and should i replace it immediately? its expensive and hope i do it after the run flat are worn out...
3. do i trust carfax report on the car? its said clean...i dun wanot buy a lemon or it was a salvage or wreck put togther... how do i know?
4. what other problems shouldi look out for for the year model and style?

1. Pay to have it checked out. Make friends with your Service Advisor, get a service report. Find out build date; later cars had a few enhancements that earlier 05's did not; lighter crank pulley, air bag on/off button for pass seat, etc. Biggest issue is the roof. Are there white wear marks? if so you may be entitled to a new top. This is the biggest issue with the car.
2, Non run flat tires give a much better ride, but wear them out first, 20/25 K miles buy a good non runflat, Goodyear or Yokohama...
3. CArfax reports are to my knowlede quite reliable
4. Convertible top.
5. Mods (down the road...) Rear sway bar, M7 Under Strut System, Pulley.
