R52 Using "newministuff" Bluetooth phone in 2008 cabrio?
I'm still stumped on the bluetooth front. This morning I confirmed that the Parrot CK3000 has the right power to the right leads, as does the plug in the head unit - the accessory power and permanent power is in the right place.
I also did some significant testing, and the Parrot definitely disconnects the bluetooth phone when the ignition switch is off, regardless of the position of the stereo (on or off). However, as previously if the stereo was left in the "on" position when the key was removed, the battery is completely drained.
With the kit removed I don't have my battery problems.... Help!

I was going to install this unit into my 2008 S Cabrio. I called Parrot about the battery drain problem in the 2008’s and they were aware of the problem and said the wiring is reversed for this unit and this model car.
They explained how to solve the problem. I didn’t go with the unit (I have a Garmin 360 with bluetooth) but they were definite that the problem could be solved by reversing 2 wires. I would call them.

Hi all
I've finally given up on the integrated bluetooth (sigh), as I can't figure out why the battery dies after a few days. So I've put the unit up for sale in the marketplace, and bought a blue ant bluetooth that clips on the visor.
It's nowhere near as good as the integrated kit, so if anyone ever figures out how to get a 2007 Cabrio working with integrated bluetooth let me know.
And if you want a good buy on a virtually new integrated unit, check out the marketplace.

hi philmonty.
i am in the same boat as you .
i have a 2008 convertible S and have the integrated parrot kit.
i have been fighting with parrot and bmw , and there seems to be something funny.
before my bluetooth was integrated , i nver had a problem , and this was only because no one could get the right cables , since the kit was integrated , i have had problems.
i dont know if it is the bluetoooth , or the can system on the car.
what makes it more frustrating is that no one can come up with a solid answer.
i had my kit replaced 3 times , so i dont believe the problem lies there.
it only seems to be a problem when they are integrated .
maybe someone from mini or parrot should stand up and help with the issue, instead of shifting blame from one comapnt to the other

I've heard from a number of people who have this problem. There is just something about how Mini wired the 2008 Cabrios that doesn't work with the Parrot.
I did my own troubleshooting, and there was definitely no power to the Parrot when the car was off. My gut feel is that somehow the stereo amp was continuing to draw power. Someone mentioned to me a separate amp in this model, but I can't confirm.
In any case, I don't think we'll ever see a solution - there just isn't enough money to be made.
Pity, because this is the only think that pisses me off with the car. Everything else is great.

hey phil thanks for the reply.
do you know where you heard about the wiring about the car.
i would like to get hold of this as if this is the case , i will push to get mini to fit a BMW system , but obviously they are blaming the parrot and it seems to be going in circles.
i originally told BMW to get the kit parrot kit out of the car , but obviously i cannot go to BMW without some proof of the whole issue.
i dont see the radio causing the problem , as i have a aftermarket radio system so not sure if that will cause an issue
thanks

This is what someone else said in a post:
With regards the audio, on further analysis I have discovered that the Mini with HK audio has an amplifier between the headunit and the speakers and that with the headunit off the amp is off. Additionally, I have not been able to bypass this as the HK headunit does not appear to have a mute input. If it did I could install a standalone speaker to overcome the requirement to have the sterio turned on. In most vehicles I install the Parrot kits there is no amp post the headunit and the parrot drives one of the factoy speakers.
Let me know if you find a solution, as apart from the battery drain the unit worked flawlessly.

I assume you have read the early threads on this. Many of us have been through this, and there is indeed a problem that no one has been able to solve, including the Mini folks. People have used various other ways arond this, including using GPS devices. Wonder how the 2009 is.
