R52 Loud squeek
Loud squeek
All...I have a loud squeek already in my 3 wk old car when I close my top. Before you all start in on the newbie, that is ONLY...and I repeat ONLY when...
a) I am parking the car
b) My children are in the back seat, and I am driving more than 55 mph for an extended period
I will be taking it back to MOS, but I can't bear the thought of driving one of the baseline Coopers in ....yech...hardtop!

I know it's a pain to leave your baby at the dealersip to get these things fixed, but at least you get a MINI to drive in the meantime!!!!
I got stuck with a Dodge Caliber (argh!!!!!) for a week....it was torturous!
So far I've found that the MINI service department is very interested in making MINI owners happy, so I think they'll get your squeeeeeeek taken care of!
Good luck

Both my MINI and my wife's MINI often make a squealing/squeaking noise for a few seconds when raising the top. They've always done it, and the top doesn't appear to slow down, drag, or bind when the noise happens, so I'd pretty much just written it off as "normal". Of course, I have no idea whether the sound I'm hearing is the same as the sound you're hearing with your car.
