BRG or Black Sidewalk

I am serious pondering replacing my current convertible with a new one - adding the things I missed I want the sidewalk package and am trying to decide between black and BRG. I know several have mentioned that the black is great looking with the sidewalk but don't know if I want the upkeep with black. Has anybody seen a BRG sidewalk in person to comment on?

If you go with a BRG S/W, nobody will know you have a new MINI.

I don't like the way the sidewalk int. works with BRG (and that might just be me), but black is way cool...
(saw one in the dealer a few weeks ago.. it was GORGEOUS!)

That being said, I don't think the upkeep on black will be *that* much more than BRG, and black works better with the top...

(Previous car was black, and it look GREAT when clean, which I enjoyed doing... I could go 2-3 weeks in summer w/o worries or that much dirt)

HTH, and good luck with your hard choice.

Interesting logic Since I see you have black (and I reckon a dog in the fight) do you have trouble keeping it clean?

I just dunno how you can go wrong....I ordered the BRG/S/JCW and I think the combo looks hot !

I was one of those that posted to you before about black cars....the (unavoidable) swirl marks will drive you nuts. My Alante' and Typhoon were both black - what a PITA to keep them clean ! and when the swirl marks show up it bugs you day after day.....

Here they both are with Sidewalk :

I agree with the comment that maintaining AB shouldn't be much more difficult than BRG (jet black, maybe -- but the metallic AB should be about the same as your car for upkeep).

I can't speak as to the BRG/SW, but add me to the list of people who have seen the black SW at the dealer and thought it was HOT

I sat in a BRG Sidewalk at Patrick MINI a little while ago. Since I already have a BRG cabrio, I'm partial for the color already. The leather interior really impressed me in person. the pics on the net don't do it justice.

Between the two, I'd definitely go for the AB SW...absolutely stunning!

Interesting. I find there to be a huge difference in maintaining AB versus BRG. The BRG will not show the swirl scratches as the AB will. Unless you owned a black car and dealt with it you really can’t appreciate the horror of it all. I had my Typhoon professionally detailed and they couldn’t get it all out – that was after 1 year of my own personal soft touch car washes.

Of course a dirty BRG is the same as a dirty AB.

I do like the Black, but after going through it twice already I just can’t do it again. Right now I drive a Convertible Volvo I lean against it and smile at my wife and she knows in an instant I am smiling cuz I can lean on my car and not leave swirl scratches !!!

Althought I have an AB and haven't seen the Sidewalk in AB or BRG... just from the photos... I think the BRG looks much sweeter with the Sidewalk package.

And I agree with others about the AB upkeep not being much different from BRG...

Good luck with your decision!

Totally undecided. Leaning toward the AB but not sure. Not sure if I'm not just gonna keep my current. And the longer I wait for my car to be driveable again the more an acura looks like an acceptable substitute.

Sidewalk

I know it is not a color you are thinking of, but Pepper White Sisdewalk is beautiful!!
Jersygirl has a cooper convertible in this color. she has posted a couple of pics. I want this combo with black roof on a MCSc. The only other option I would need is LSD. Just about $30k

I would do the hood stripe in a color that matched the interior..... dream

Ann, you have great taste! I also recommended the PW Sidewalk to Tex in his other thread. It'd be my choice if I were to get a ragtop (or DS, but can't get Sidewalk). Though I think that Tex is set on these 2 color choices.

Good luck Tex!

Umm My Vote goes for the BRG Sidewalk I order an Astro Black Sidewalk/JCW

BRG is more unique and the nightspokes look fantastic against the BRG and Malt leather.

Was just going to get on here and say I was heavily leaning toward the black but that is a nice ride diablito. You've just made my choice hard again

The PW is very nice but I'm just not a white car kinda guy. I've had three but didn't choose the colour on any of them. Most of my cars have been some version of red so I'm kinda burned out - not that I could get it with the sidewalk anyway. My wife's car is gray so don't want the garage to look like the honeymooners set

I saw a BRG one at my dealer wasnt horribly impressed, but I'll bet it would work well in black. As for me I ordered mine sparkling silver. It wont be in till about sept 20 though. so I doubt I'll have a pic before you buy.

For all you SISSIES afraid of owning a black MINI because of how hard it is to keep it looking clean and swirl-free, let me just say this:

Like a doctor once told me... if you have a brain tumor, you're better of knowing it than NOT knowing it.

Same thing with dirt and swirls on your car's paint. Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they're not there. You're better off seeing the imperfections so you can remove them !!
