R52 Dr EEEEEEEVIL Comes Home
Dr EEEEEEEVIL Comes Home
Well, our trip out to Missouri to pick up our JB MCSC came off without a hitch. Flights were on time, the trip went smoothly (just one minor traffic jam that cost us about 45 minutes and wouldn't you know it, it was only 75 miles from our home), and the MINI ran like a well-oiled and well-engineered machine--because that is exactly what it is.
Of the 813 miles, about 750 of them we motored with the top down.
It was gorgeous weather. We couldn't have asked for better, especially in the latter half of July !
And by the way, during the 813 miles driven, we saw only TWO MINIs the entire trip ! Where were you all ?!?!?
Of course, those of you who've come to know me now that I've earned my OCDetailers label. So, after driving from 6:55 am until 4:35 pm today, the second thing I did after getting home was wash the MINI.
Yes, second, I had to eat dinner with the family first !
So, here's a few pics of Dr Evil (giving away a few of my future mods with his name) in his new home. After I get some of the mods done, I'll be sure to get some pics of him with his two siblings. These pics are after a quick wash with Mystique and a few spritzes of Hydro.

Now, I'll post these again in a few weeks/months when I do a few mods and use these for comparison. I have some interesting ideas in mind.
I'd also like to say thanks to Brett, known around these parts as Fahtrim, for picking us up at the airport and having us out to his mansion.

Thanks, Donna !! You're very thoughtful and kind !
Yes... it was a great way for us to get to know him. After driving our Coopers for over a year, that S really can get up and scoot !
Yes, the color is gorgeous. We got lots of comments during our trip. One sweet older lady wanted to know "...what IS that ?". I told her it was a MINI Cooper, engineered by BMW, made by MINI and just purchased in Missouri and taking it home to Maryland. She shook her head and said, "you'd think they would have dealerships closer to Maryland".
She couldn't believe it wasn't new.
And yes, I'll keep the pics coming. Like I said, some mods are forthcoming. One mod I have in mind is going to be tough to pull off... might need some help from my NAM friends on that one.

Glad you made it back A-OK. I guess I can say nice camera as the MINI looks just as good in your pics as it did in Fahtrim's pics
Get cracking on the mods, can't wait to see them & you need to call now & start getting reservations for MOTD 6 as I have already warned you about the 3 MINI/attendance rule

Beautiful MINI! Congrats!
Wish we could have snuck up to the St Louis area to escort you in "MINI style"-and you wouldn't have been quite so lonely at least for the first part of your trip.
BTW, my wife says the offer of driving one of your THREE MINIs at the Dragon still applies.

SWEEET ride!!! Looking mighty nice!
BTW, Jay and I are coming over so you can teach us how to make Cecilia and Soulfire look like that!!

Congrats! Can't wait to see the Dr. in person!

Well, if you had seen it with the 279 bugs smattered on the front end of it, you'd know it wasn't a matter of just bringing it home and snapping pics, Miss Smarty PanTTs !
Besides, it looks better in my driveway than it did in Fahtrim's pics... RIGHT ??
Yeah, gotta make those reservations for the Dragon. Where's the best place to stay ??
Well... I actually PM'd a coordinator on Friday, asking for the name change. He must have been away this weekend. It's coming. I think.
Thanks again for your help on that HO MCSC !!!
Thanks ! It's been almost 20 years since I owned a black car and I wasn't as much a detailing fanatic back then. Should be interesting !
Yep, guess you will, he who shares my first name !
Disapproved. Please resubmit your request in 30 days for further disappoval.

I've made a note of your offer to have your wife drive one of the MINIs to the Dragon. I'll inform you two of the decision at a later date.
Wait until I take the PC, Prima Swirl, and the Epic to him... the shine will be so tremendous, you wan't want to come too close !
Yep, not sure which to bring to the next DCMM event I'm able to attend. Dr, Evil, or Bergey... the club needs a checkered roof to represent also !
Congrats. We too made a trek this weekend up to MA (from NY) to pick up our new baby. I've had a Cooper before, but the bf only had an S. He got the pleasure of driving the car back (I had to drive my MINI back). Quite the difference between the S and the Cooper.
Joey, Thanks !!
And yes, a Hyper Blue MCSC was in our target sites, but alas, it slipped away from us. That would have been pretty awesome !
But with the black and white checkers on the CR MINI and the checkmate package on the PW MINI, this one is going to fit in verrrrrrrrrrrry nicely, especially after I get finished with a few very YOU-nique mods.

Hey, Meg ! Congrats on your new baby !! Ewwwwwwwwwww... Mellow Yellow, I like it !! A lot !!
Yep, that S is very snappy, for sure. But for the commutes, we'll still enjoy our plenty-zippy Justacoopers.

Nice to have another Black MCSc bombin around!
I Swirl'd, Epic'd, and Hydro'd my MINI just a week ago and ooooh boy...nothing looks better than black when its clean and shiny!
I've recently become OCD with my cars so I would have Hydro'd it ASAP too!
You better get some pics up in the detailing forum too btw!

Oh yes, sounds like you have the OCD bug in you now. There's no turning back now ! And yes, I'll post some pics in the detailing forum after I take the PC buffer to him.
Fontana Village is the center of everything. They are booked solid but you should call to get on their waiting list as some of the people who booked early will cancel. The next closest place is Tapoco Lodge. Then people start to book hotels all the way out to Robbinsville, NC

Even when the temperature got up to 86 degrees yesterday, it was still comfortable to drive with the top down. And I'm a guy who hates being hot ! Funny you should mention the transformation. Just 10 minutes ago, the first of Dr. Evil's mods arrived via USPS Priority Mail, thanks to Mike at AC. And I just placed an order last evening for the second batch of mods. I have a total of 12 mods planned so far.
Funny enough, I love having a black car because it gives me an excuse to wash it every 4 days! I just enjoy it I guess!
One thing that I LOVE about cabrios is that you don't have to have the A/C on EVER, (unless the top is up, which is...never). No more bogs at red lights! You'll find your range of tolerable top-down motoring temps. For me its been 26-105!
