R52 Newbie with roof "issues"!?
Newbie with roof "issues"!?
Hello all!
Bought pre-owned Hot Orange Cooper Convertible (July 2004 registeration) about 3 weeks ago now from BMW dealer.
I have 2 issues:
1. There is a "old stain" on black roof about 2" x 1/2" that looks like old faded "bird p**" that probably wasn't removed soon enough.
Dealer said they couldn't get it off & it wasn't really enough to reject car (especially when we were set on Hot Orange!)
Any ideas on best way to try & remove this?
2. I have "white shiny marks" on roof but no signs of wear yet - does anybody have copies of the BMW TSB's that covered this fault??
I'm not sure where I stand with warranty on this one - but just wanted to get my ducks in a row first!
Thanks for help in advance!

Try a search in this area of the site - there have been a few threads about the roofs. I casually mentioned my shiny spots when I went in for an oil change, and they ordered me a new top that day. Welcome to NAM and topless motoring!
First off, grats on your new baby!
Like homerwest said, I've seen where some people have gotten their tops replaced because of the wear marks.
I don't know if you've actually tried to clean the top yet, to see if that bird stuff will come off. But I would suggest a fabric top cleaner, like Raggtopp. Hopefully, that stuff will come off and you can then seal it too. That's what I will end up buying and using whenever my car gets here!
WHHAAAAA!! The wait is driving me looney!
