MiniDisc deck?

I was pokin' around somewhere online the other night and discovered that a MD deck is an option on the Euro minis. Is this something I can order through the parts department of my dealer since it isn't offered as an option on this side of the pond? Anyone have a part number?

I'd be willing to bet that the US dealerships would find the part isn't even listed in their database. You'd probably have to order it from Europe. Looking at RealOEM.com, it seems there are two part numbers for it:

65126961278 - made up to 09/2005, then replaced by
65126961237

I used to be very big on MDs - I own several MD portables and a very nice Sony ES MD unit in my home stereo. Then I bought an iPod. I haven't touched an MD since.

But seriously, you'd prefer to have an MD deck instead of a CD deck? You'd completely give up your ability to play actual CDs in the car, unless you got a CD changer... but if you have an iPod adapter, it likely already takes up the CD changer cable (unless you just use the Aux input).

Here's some info on it: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...02&hg=65&fg=05

At first i entered a Euro spec and it showed up. Then I entered my year and build date, July 2005 and came up with the link above.

I wonder why it showed up on a U.S. spec car when it wasn't available in the U.S. Also, is the frequency settings in Europe and U.S. the same?

If the tuner is compatible, then maybe the NAM, sponsor Mike The MINI who is based in the U.K. can come up with something.

I used to be a MD user. In fact I even had a Sony MD headunit in my previous car. But then I got an ipod.

+1 more, although I used a 6-disc MD changer from SONY with the compatible FM modulator -- that may be an option for you if you want to retain your head unit.
