Bad day today. Got a call at work - Sean's 'S' had just gotten rear-ended while he was stopped for a construction slowdown. He was sounding rather calm, but I could tell he was pretty shook up. Some idiot broad had slammed into him, and even tho she left skid marks, she trashed his rear bumper and it looks tweaked some in the back. He was on his cell phone, so I told him wait for the cops and I left work right quick. By the time Chris & I got there 20 minutes later, his poor 'S' was pushed over to the side, & the Officer was getting ready to impound it, so he told us Sean had gone to an ER for a check-up, and let us drive his car home. It seems OK, but it really needs a diagnostic session with an adjuster.

It's a real bummer to go to the ER and see your boy in a neck brace. He'll be OK, they say, after a round of x-rays, but we'll keep an eye on him. His neck's sore and he'll be off work for a coupla days, but nothing serious we hope, thank God. He worked hard for almost two years saving up for this MINI, he drove it like it was a part of him, and it's a heartbreaker. He wouldn't even drive MY Cooper, or any MINI for that matter, until he sat down in his 'S' the day we picked it up at Long Beach MINI, so his first drive in a MINI would be in HIS car.

Ah well, steel and glass can be mended, so we're lucky, I guess. To top it all off, I had to drive to Long Beach from San Diego tonight to drop Brooksie off for a new windshield and a 25k mile check-up. I'm burned out, now - so.........

That really sucks about Sean's S, really sorry to hear it! VERY glad to hear that he is ok and wasn't to badly damaged himself.

I hope Sean and his MINI both have a speedy recovery!

Sounds a little like my accident, a trip to the ER. He is fortunate he was concious. I wasn't. I hate hearing about MINI accidents...

Sorry to hear that. Glad nobody was seriously hurt though. Best of luck getting through this rough time!

I'm in San Diego too, and have a MINI on order from Long Beach. I noticed you said you are taking your MINI back to Long Beach for service. Have you tried the service at Brecht MINI, or do you plan on giving Long Beach your business because you purchased there (if you did purchase there)? I wanted to do my service at Brecht, but if their service department is anything like the sales, I might be headed to Long Beach too! Hope everything works out ok with your son!

I actually bought two there, and yes, I give them my business as much as possible. I've used Brecht's service a coupla times, & they're OK, but it's often only an extra half hour to Long Beach compared to the drive up Hwy 15 after work! It gets me outta the rut, anyway!

On this original thread, thanks to all of you, dbwildo, ronvan, joes475, and cooperspeed, and others for your thoughts! Now to bed....

Rob,

Tell Sean he's in our thoughts. I'm so sorry to hear about the accident, but like others, glad he's okay. I bet the lady claimed she "didn't see him" Yes, please let us know how he is doing in a few days!

Tracy
